Oof, these jokes are bad. I love the Addams Family in general, but this movie is so dumbed down it's unbearable. It's a disgrace to the family.
They were going to charge money for this?
Plot: Really, really dumb. At no point was I rooting for the protagonist.
Consistency: Taken 2 ignored some story points from the 1st film, but Taken 3 just completely resets the characters.
Action: Boring. Nothing memorable.
Acting: Forest Whittaker's character took every single characterization attempt, leaving nothing for the other characters.
I really enjoyed it. It had a good message, and the cast looked like they were having fun. Kristen Bell's character should have been given more screentime due to the complicated situation she was in. The movie over-praised excessive drinking/drug abuse and under-appreciated therapy, which I think will hurt it in the long run. Still, the cast was great, the jokes landed well, the music was decent, and the pacing was solid.
This movie kept me asking "why?" Why would dinosaurs need to develop agriculture? Why doesn't the main character show any character growth over the first few years in the story? Why do humans act like wolves? Why didn't the writers try to learn how evolution works before writing this drivel?
In the end, this is a western about a boy befriending a wolf pup on their journey home. It's a generic story, but rather than adding some creativity and depth to the theme, they decided to make the characters dinosaurs and call it a day. At best, that just adds confusion and nonsense. At worst, it misinforms people on how evolution and civilizations work at a time where there is too much misinformation already.
