Movie Ratings and Reviews

The movie may not live up to its full potential, but it's still a lot of fun.

Now You See Me 2

While the movie slows to a complete halt in its 2nd act as soon as they started tossing cards across the room, I was hooked.

The movie might be in dire need of some better actors (looking at you whoever played Lothar's son), it is visually impressive, constantly entertaining, and surprisingly has balls.

Finding Dory
Finding Dory(2016)

Adding another amazing movie to Pixar's record, Finding Dory is a thoroughly enjoyable addition to everyone's favorite story about our fishy friends.

Paper Towns
Paper Towns(2015)

Perfectly adapted and perfectly casted, Paper Towns takes all of the good from the novel and puts it into a thought provoking film that can really connect with any young adult that just wants to have fun.

The 5th Wave
The 5th Wave(2016)

Well there's something to be said for a movie that manages to take a great book and an excellent cast and turn it in to this. There are a few positives, the movie follows at least half of the book's plot points which is better than some YA adaptions (*cough* *cough* Percy Jackson). And the cast really does a pretty good job with what they're given, but that's where the positives end. I'm not going to sugarcoat this review anymore, this movie is bad. It has a lot of potential to be decent and every once in a while you can see where the movie tried to not be shit, but it doesn't follow through with any of it. There are characters in the movie that actually don't have names. MAIN CHARACTERS FROM THE BOOK AREN'T EVEN GIVEN NAMES. The pacing is terrible and it doesn't make any sense how the kids can become trained killers in a 45 second montage. The romantic plot of the movie is really awkward and hard to watch because the movie doesn't even spend enough time developing Cassie's love interest to make it seem even halfway believable. That's another problem, besides Cassie none of the characters are even sort of developed. They're just thrown from plot point to plot point with no inbetween making the audience actually care about what happens to them. What's even worse is that all of these negatives are done so well in the book. Things are explained, characters are developed, and things actually make sense. But sadly, the 5th wave is a disjointed, sloppy mess that's not worth anyone's time. Just read the book.

While the plot is not a huge standout, Deadpool manages to be exactly what it wanted to be, an absolutely hilarious joyride.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the movie that anyone who loves fun has been waiting to see for years. And boy, does it deliver. The movie, while not perfect, is an amazing showcase of what the Star Wars movies can really be. The acting, CGI, and action, all flow together seamlessly to make you feel like you really are back in the Star Wars universe. While the movie does take a lot from the original trilogy, that's a great thing because it takes us back to what we love most about Star Wars and gives it an updated twist without making it seem too far away from the originals. This is what people wanted from the prequels and didn't receive, so it really is a joy to see it handled well. Any complaints about the movie are so minor that there's really no use even complaining about them because it'll just take away from how great the movie really is. That's why I'm giving Star Wars: The Force Awakens a 5/5.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

I don't understand the bad reviews for this film. It was amazing! (pun intended). The cast was outstanding, the chemistry between the leads was perfect and the movie was all around great and heartbreaking and I loved every second of it!

While not as "despicable" as the first two films, "Minions" is a fun ride from start to finish featuring the adorable little guys we all know. Of course the only way you'll like this movie is if you actually like the minions in the first films, but if you do just sit back and enjoy, you're gonna love it.

The Martian
The Martian(2015)

Wow. Just...wow. The Martian is nothing short of an experience.

The Last Airbender

The worst adaption of anything ever...period.

Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials

The movie may slow down a little bit in the middle, but the rest of the movie is at a full sprint and its a damn fun ride just trying to keep up.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Thanks to another kick-ass script from none other than Joss Whedon himself, we are graced with yet another action-packed adventure with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and it is a blast from start to finish.

The Visit
The Visit(2015)

The Visit is an effectively terrifying and surprisingly funny film that is a good rebound for the man who ruined my childhood dreams for adaptions. Not the best movie ever, but easy to recommend.

While not nearly the amazing movie that I predicted could've come out of it, I still had a good time with the movie thanks to the great performances and amazing visual effects.

Fantastic Four

The only reason this movie gets this high of a score is because of the first hour or so, that part was fine. After that, the movie turns to shit, it's laughable, boring, and worst of all...it makes the first two look great.

Surpassing everyone's expectations, Ant-Man is a surprisingly fun movie led by an awesome cast that can hold up against many of Marvel's previous movies.

Even though it slows down in the final act, Trainwreck is constantly hilarious thanks to amazing writing and acting from Amy Schumer.

Inside Out
Inside Out(2015)

Pixar is back at the top of its game with another amazing story filled with plenty of feels for the whole family. The film is brilliantly written, beautifully animated, and all around a touching story that is infused into a genius idea from the minds at Pixar.

Jurassic World

Jurassic World is nothing but fun from start to finish and is satisfying in every way that you could ever want a blockbuster to be. This is the summer movie to beat this year!

Gone Girl
Gone Girl(2014)

If Rosamund Pike is this good, why haven't I see her in anything before. Like damn, we need more of her.

While the end of this movie is confusing as hell, the overall coolness of this movie makes for a good enough experience that almost makes you forget that there are endless logical gaps --almost--

I'm not gonna lie I jumped a few times, which is after all the movie's job. But that doesn't mean it's good.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Thanks to the wonderful performances of Jennifer and the rest of the cast, we are treated to yet another faithful adaptation that never stops managing to amaze.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

In the final film in this trilogy, the filmmakers seem to give it their all, but there's just not much left to give after all of these years.

In this surprisingly enjoyable musical filled with energetic songs and a decent story, you will be shocked to find out, it's not a joke after all.

Into the Woods

In this fairytale musical, you will be taken on a grand journey with catchy music and stellar performances, that sadly is stretched out too long ruining its charm. But hey! You get a great soundtrack out of it!

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

In the disappointing final act of this overlong trilogy, the CGI is never ending, the battle is quickly put to the side to give endings to all of the 38,000,000 characters, and worst of all, it isn't even fun to watch. At least the performances are great.

The Imitation Game

Even though it slows down in places, Benedict Cumberbatch leads an amazing cast through a great story that will stay with you even after you leave the theater.

Fifty Shades of Grey

Taking its source material and improving on it tenfold, Fifty Shades of Grey provides the audience with a captivating love story that is much classier and more enjoyable than its print counterpart.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water

Fun, entertaining, and downright hilarious, SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water brings everything that made the cartoon amazing to the big screen and more. Even if it starts to drown in its final act...

Furious 7
Furious 7(2015)

As an amazing send-off to an amazing actor, Furious 7 capitalizes on all of the strengths of this series and leaves every weakness in the dust.

Mad Max: Fury Road

With everything from explosive car chases, to crazy flame-shooting guitars, to the girl you forgot you saw in that one Transformers movie, this movie brings a ton fun to the table, and certainly does not disappoint.

Pitch Perfect 2

While not rising to the high bar that the first movie gave, Pitch Perfect 2 continues to be entertaining through its ability to just want to have fun.

Kingsman: The Secret Service

This movie is an amazingly fun ride from start to finish. With everything from awesome action, gut-busting jokes, and amazing performances, this movie is 2015's movie to beat.

Beautiful, grand, and filled with heart, Cinderella is everything you wished it could be and more.

This movie was amazing, it was so true to the book (the only parts left out were unimportant anyways), the performances were outstanding, and the scenery was outstanding, I loved this movie!

Big Hero 6
Big Hero 6(2014)

While predictable, Big Hero 6 manages to bring all of the charm and pulls of the emotional heartstrings that a Disney movie can bring while never losing focus on its goal. And I want a Baymax now, just saying.

The Maze Runner

Truly an excellent film. The pacing was great, the cast was perfect, and it was an excellent adaption of the book. I am beyond pleased with this movie.

Boring, pointless, and disappointing, Godzilla brings nothing to the table besides visuals, and while the visuals are stunning, they cannot make up for the overall lackluster movie. I mean there's more Godzilla fighting in the trailer than there is here, that's how dumb it is.

As Above, So Below

I quite enjoyed seeing this movie, while random and weird, it was definitely what I wanted and expected.

Guardians of the Galaxy

This is the best Sci-Fi movie that has been released in a long time. While a standard for what CGI and 3D should be, this movie also excels in telling it's story without being overbearing and making you care for a character who can only say 3 words. Perfectly casted and acted, this is a movie that everyone needs to see...now...like right now.

The Host
The Host(2013)

I don't understand why this movie has only a 9%. Personally I loved this movie, it inspired me to read the book which I loved also. It had a great plot that was never once boring. Plus the acting was great, especially from Saoirse who amazed me with her performance. Please see this, it was truly a great film.

The LEGO Movie

A masterpiece in the making, The Lego Movie brilliantly shows that everything really is awesome.

Transformers: Age of Extinction

While way too long and riddled with plot holes, Transformers Age of Extinction is a good time if you go in expecting more of the same

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

An amazing story wrapped in a technical masterpiece, Dawn works as both an awesome action film and a breathtaking adventure.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Awesome film, can't wait for the sequel.

22 Jump Street

Taking the formula from the original and improving on it, 22 Jump Street takes all of the fun from it's predecessor and adds even more.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

Perfect sequel to a perfect movie, How To Train Your Dragon 2 takes a road where many sequels have failed before, and succeeds with flying colors.

The Fault In Our Stars

In one of the best films of the younger generation, Shailene Woodley shines as the star of an amazingly tear-inducing movie that shows the faults in life.

Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3(2013)

This movie was truly awesome and definitely an improvement on the past two films.

Monsters University

This movie was so adorably awesome! Lots of laughs and very true to the original film. Loved it all around.

Man of Steel
Man of Steel(2013)

Not terrible, but not nearly as good as it could have been. I actually got bored in a superhero movie, that shouldn't happen.

The Heat
The Heat(2013)

So funny! Loved all of it!

Pacific Rim
Pacific Rim(2013)

All I wanted when watching this movie is to watch big monsters fight big robots and for everything to be awesome. I got what I asked for and more! (Which is more than can be said for other movies *cough cough* Godzilla *cough cough*) Thoroughly enjoyed this film and I hope that they can make a sequel of the same value.

X-Men: Days of Future Past

One of the best in the franchise, I am (finally) once again satisfied by an X-Men movie, it has been a long time.

One of my favorite Disney movies to date, such a great movie.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Absolute and literal perfection, I've never seen a better adaption of a book into a film, will definitely be seeing it like 109284093284 times.

The Hunger Games

Ender's Game
Ender's Game(2013)

Good film, really enjoyed watching it.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

Probably the worst adaption of anything since the Last Airbender, and that's saying something!

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

Great movie! It does take different aspects from other YA book to movie adaptions, but it's able to pull it off in the end and make it it's own success.

Now You See Me

I loved this movie it was so cool!!! The story was amazing and I would've never expected the twist at the end. Great acting and a great story, it was really good.

Beautiful Creatures

What? Honestly I didn't really expect to enjoy this movie as much as I did. The trailers really didn't do it any justice but I heard that the books were really good and figured I would give it a try. I saw it, saw it again, and then I saw it again...I saw this movie three times, I've never done that before. This even inspired me to read the entire book series. Now I can understand that some people could be angry about what was changed, however, I like what they did with it. Plus there was way too much in the book to have it put into movie form without making the movie go for an extra hour so I was pleased with the route that they took. Now for the acting...while at first the accents were a little off-putting, the acting was superb. There was great chemistry between Alice and Alden, enough to really bring the characters to life may I add, and Jeremy Irons, Emmy Rossum, and Emma Thompson brought so much to their characters that it just made the whole experience more and more enjoyable. All around, I loved this movie and will forever charish it.

Silver Linings Playbook

Better than the book, and that's saying something

The Amazing Spider-Man

Great movie!!! Way better than the other three!!!
