Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland(2015)
½

There is definitely something interesting in this movie. A strong Sci-Fi premise and a lot of pretty good performances. But this movies is too flawed for me say that it's worth going to theaters to see.

Furious 7
Furious 7(2015)

In the words of Dominic Toretto, "I ain't got friends, I got family". I just saw Furious 7 and this is my review.

There are no words I can say to describe what I just saw, all I can say is that a better follow up to a new classic in modern action could not be made. Sense I want to challenge myself and write a real review, I'm going to review the movie in as if I were one of the Juggo-bros that attended the movie (but with slightly better sentence structure).

So a little catch up, Furious 7 takes place after our heroes from the previous film took down an international terrorist and their doppelgangers as pointed out by Roman (Tyrese Gibson) in the previous movie. Brian (RIP Paul Walker) the lead of the first film has become Mr. Mom and is growing uncomfortable with all the stillness. Dom (Diesel) the other lead with his gruff voice is doing his best to reconnect with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez). Each other's love interest from way back in the first movie and main reason Dom and his team became the heroes of Six.

While they all make their laps around Disneyland something sinister is afoot. Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) brother of Owen Shaw makes his way from cheery old London to L.A. When there he comes in contact with The Rock, I mean Hobbes the prime Antagonist of Fast Five and Doms secret gay boyfriend from Six. After dispatching Hobbes and taking what information he needs on our heroes, he first goes after Han (who spoilers, died four movies ago if you go by release date).

While the death of Han was not unknown before the movie begins it still does resonate. My first real comment on this film is actually how emotionally powerful it is. What made it all the more powerful is they brought back the lead of Tokyo Drift who is actually really good in the movie and sells his Miyagi-Daniel relationship with almost no words. Even Tez (Ludacris) and Roman have a great scene at Han's funeral where they really sell it, that they feel hunted and scared. Now of course of lot of scenes feel like filler to make the action that comes later more satisfying. I did think to myself at some point "can we get to batshit craziness already". That being said most of it really works.

Even though I'd seen the trailers I was not ready for what I experienced. Every actions scene moves with fluidity and fun that feels earned after the initial slowness. Every character gets something interesting to do and contributes to overall plot. Also this movie is beautiful, not that previous entries were not but Director James Wan brings the same level of care when it comes to the look and feel of this movies as he has shown with The Conjuring, Insidious or even Saw.

Going into individuals I've got address Statham as a villain. Furious 7 comes out in the same spot that The Winter Soldier came out last year. If you know me, you know that's a big deal to me. One of my favorite comments on that film was that the Winter Soldier felt like a force of nature that you unleash on your enemies. Deckard could easily have the same thing said about him, when he enters the frame I feel dread unlike anything I've experience with previous films in this series. Luckily Wan knows when to put his toys back in the box and when to bring them back out.

The Rock is not in this movie nearly enough but Wan knows how to use him best in the scenes where he's there. His one-liners are just as oddly constructed and oddly performed as I'd expect and in a way only The Rock could do. Although The Rock gets shelved most of the movie we are gifted a gracefully aged Kurt Russell, present for most of the second act. Russell gets to be exuberant and charming in this movie, almost as if Jack Burton had a long lost brother who became a high level CIA operative with a thing for Belgian beer. He's fun and makes every scene he's in electric.

I honestly don't know what else to say that will sell anyone to go see this movie. I could tell you that is truly a great addition to the canon of action films, I could say that it's a movie that is much better than it deserves to be. To be honest I never thought I'd write such a glowing review. This is a movie about characters that have evolved from being real world street racers to supermen. Others have said it, but if they don't eventually crossover with The Avengers It will only be the loss of moviegoers everywhere.

It Follows
It Follows(2015)

A perfect half remembered dream of classic John Carpenter films. Not only does it pay respect to arguably some of the best horror films of all time but it also manages to feel original and build tension in ways that feel fresh. Don't go in expecting an easy ending. This movie follows Carpenters lead from the soundtrack which is fantastic, to an ending just as powerful and unnerving as 'The Thing'. Watch this with friends and prepare to look over your shoulders for days after 'It Follows".

The Maze Runner
½

For what it is, The Maze Runner is actually a very watchable film. While it's a somewhat blatant setup for a sequel it does stand on its own mostly. Dylan O'Brien cements his status as my second favorite O'Brien. Overall very watchable and impressive.

The Imitation Game

A very Well made film with some really great performances. Although it feels quite rushed because of a few well placed cliches that move the plot along, but keep the movie from having room to breath. Overall the story of Alan Turing's life and his impact on our society makes this film more important than its flaws.

Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler(2014)
½

The feeling of disgust you get from looking at a car wreck for too long is one you should find all too familiar when you see Nightcrawler. The way in which this film unravels is entrancing, you feel like you are watching a film unmoving in its faith that the story it is telling is thrilling. It spends only the time it needs to try and convince you of that, the rest is spent showing you.

Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes

Dawn of the Apes
2014 has been a great year for giant popcorn movies, although i have not seen them all, the worst of them still rank high above last years crop (Gravity, The Worlds End & parts of the Marvel movies excluded). Dawn of the Apes as I prefer to call it is an intelligent message driven movie that does a good job of not being beholden to the tropes of other summer movies. Which is perhaps in retrospect was the weakest part of "Rise". "Dawn" takes full advantage of what was setup by "Rise" without trying to squeeze in moments of bombast where it is not earned.

The Good
One of the elements that works right up until the very end of the movie is how both Apes and Humans are portrayed as flawed primates: up until the very end there is no black and white no good guys or bad guys just people and our close genetic cousins trying to survive in a situation that neither asked for. Every character has at least somewhat believable reasons, which motivate their actions. This movie also depicts war and combat in a way that you often never see in a PG-13 movie ("Rise" included). Without showing geysers of blood or dismemberment you are given an idea of the horrors of war on both sides of a conflict in short but effective bursts and like in real life, you can not really blame one person for all that has gone wrong. Off Course i would be wrong not to mention that the motion capture work in this movie is truly exceptional, of course it's impossible for the technology not to have advanced. This time i felt the performances of the actors behind the effects more that in previous films. While Andy Serkis has always managed shine through the C.G.I. Almost every major performance capture performance this time around had a clear focus it seems to be more than just another random ape but a character with a unique back story we just do not have the time to learn about. While this might sound basic it i not quite that way in most films, which used motion capture.

The Ugly (spoilers)
The last forty minutes of this film are by no means bad but they do slowly lose some of the complexity and sense of motivation that works so well earlier in the films specifically with two characters. These two are established as doing only what they believe to right, earlier on in the film. In the case of the Ape Koba and the part of Dreyfus played by Gary Oldman they both become cartoon versions of themselves toward the end. Koba by killing one of the apes who refuse to do what he says which in context makes him seem like an out and out bad guy. Dreyfus becomes the fool who cannot possibly believe that animals are intelligent because of how they look. Both character start off complex and layered but change toward the end of the movie so it can have an exciting climactic battle. While that battle is fairly well constructed Koba becomes a discount version of Scar from the Lion King, which does not kill the movie but is a minor flaw.

The Bad
Judy Greer plays Caesars wife in the film named Cornelia after Cornelius from the original film. While the effects in film are great Judy Greer who joined the film because she wanted to be in the movie as present to her husband (WTF podcast episode 492) and happens to be a brilliant comedic and dramatic actress is totally underused in the movie. It's like having Little Finger from Game of Thrones (insert your own underappreciated great actor playing a supporting role in a TV show you like very much) being brought in to do motion capture for the MUTO eggs in Godzilla (2014). For those that have not seen Godzilla yet, the eggs in that movie DO NOT DO ANYTHING WHATSOEVER.

"Dawn" is a reassuring placeholder for the quality that these kinds of movies can achieve and like the other movies released this year has restored what I loved about these movies in the first place.

PS
I apologize for the lapse in the frequency of my reviews but 2013 frankly had so few movies that were worth a review that I was put off the idea of writing them. Also college takes up more time than I thought and a review of transformers might actually encourage more people to see it.

Green Lantern

This movie made me want to punch a baby

Skyfall
Skyfall(2012)
½

James bond vs. Anton Chigur sounds like the greatest movie ever but SKYFALL is a close second. SKYFALL first of all is a title that continues to sound cool no matter how much I say it. The movie moves the overall story of Bonds rebuilding, forward and brings all the qualities many fans missed from old movies back in fun and interesting ways.

(SPOILERS DUH!)
The Good
SKYFALL first of all just looks f**king beautiful, every shot is expertly crafted. even when it comes to extreme close ups of leg wounds, making it probably the best-looking Bond ever. Daniel Craig kills it even more than he did in Casino Royale, there's a level of believability he brings to this character that no previous Bond has ever put on screen. Judi Dench really shows why she has this role and like Craig is so real &grounded. Javier Bardem comes close to Hamming it up but really brings something interesting and unsettling to this character and is on my list of favorite villains, meaning the Bardem is officially on the list twice. All the beta cast members are experts as well, Ralph Fiennes earns your complete trust by the end of the movie despite almost always playing villians and establishes himself as the new M with all the pomp and class of old Bernard Lee while being youthful enough that he may see the next 3 Bonds leave before hanging up the role. Ben Whisaw who I was very excited for establishes himself very well as Q with same "I'm smarter than you smirk" as his predcessor mix with a youthful lack of common sense.

The Bad
My major problems were in the writing, there was so many times that the phrase "some times the old ways are the best ways" was used that it began to be obvious that they were setting it up for a later scene. I also I felt like there were moments were smaller characters where given a line just to fill space and had no purpose. A real problem I had was with the action, although I didn√¬Ę(TM)t think I√¬Ę(TM)d see actions scenes that would be revolutionary I don√¬Ę(TM)t want to see action scenes that have no sense of purpose and I general aren√¬Ę(TM)t that fun, when the first scene of Whisaw and Craig talking is more exciting then either of the immediate action scenes before or after that means that something is wrong.

The Ugly
One of the things I caught watching the movie was how much it took from The Dark Knight, not to say that√¬Ę(TM)s bad strategy but it feels a bit odd. On occasion there are logic jumps like fire moving downward into a tunnel with dead air but unless you√¬Ę(TM)re a real stickler it should bother you. Naomie Harris who will now likely become a regular as Money Penny in future Bond films makes a strong impression in the role but doesn't really stand out as anything other than a supporting role.
The Rating
Overall it√¬Ę(TM)s actually a pretty good flick and it definitely worth 10 bucks of your hard earned dollars, I√¬Ę(TM)ve got to say that if it weren√¬Ę(TM)t for these issues the movie would be higher on my scale. 4 √, 1/2 Shots to Chest out of 5.

Only God Forgives

this movie is like what happens after an autistic person watches every action revenge type movie ever made, writes a script for it and get's it made. Because his previous film is so well regarded NO ONE AT ANY POINT SAYS THIS IS A VERY BAD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Godzilla
Godzilla(2014)

"The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control and not the other way around. Let them fight!"
The king is back bitches and better than ever.
The Good
Godzilla is in this movie (The real Godzilla)
The Bad
I had to watch this in 3D so I could watch it in IMAX and the 3D gave me a headache.
The Ugly
Aaron Taylor Johnson is kind of boring and there wasn't as much Godzilla as might of liked.

Fast & Furious 6

this movie is so crazy and i'm unsure as to who in this movie is or is not in on the joke but it's so fun.. so yeah

Halloween III - Season of the Witch

i only watched this because of the "How Did This Made?" podcast, so yeah this movie is not good , except for music which is a classic John Carpenter score, nothing else is good at all

Gravity
Gravity(2013)

The Good
It's interesting, the choice of releasing Gravity in October, while immediately it might seem odd, it is when this incredible masterpiece of a film reaches it's most clausterphobic & gut wrenching that you understand this movie is scarier than any film you have ever seen (at least for me). The sense of being unable to grab on to anything is utterly frightening & established within the first 20 minutes of the film that I wasn't just watching a film but taking part in an experience. i can not even describe how this roller coaster of a movie made me feel, very few movies have brought me so close to tears. this movie is visually perfect, the way the camera flows through scenes with such flawless control is spectacular. The whole movie is so simple & doesn't try be anything that it isn't. It is a visually stunning, terrifying, emotionally gratifying masterpiece.

The Ugly
Some people might get all not picky about the inaccuracies but I honestly don't care.

The Bad
There is absolutely nothing "bad" in this movie everything is either 99.999% perfect or completely flawless.

Overall Gravity gets a strong 6 half naked Sandra Bullocks out of 5

Man of Steel
Man of Steel(2013)

Overall I think my criticisms line up with most other people who have reviewed the movie but I don't want to completely write off the this movie altogether, while it may have flaws there is definitely something their, something in the film that makes it enjoyable beyond just explosions and fighting, I think that a sequel is warranted but they need to get writer who is better with subtlety and character development in order to make sure the next films is not just "a hollow shell. A rusty trap," I conclusion I give Man of Steel your guessed it 4 Zod's out of 5

Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3(2013)

My name is Gage Lewis; I watch movies go to college and occasionally, I write critical reviews of blockbuster movies. Today I review Iron Man 3. Get your arc Reactors ready, and inject yourself with some Extremis virus because no movie is without The Good, The Bad or The Ugly.

The Good
The Marvel cinematic universe is nothing if not incredibly self-referential and most strongly does this define the Iron Man section of the franchise, Iron Man 3 doesn't go without pointing out how sappy or unoriginal a scene might be and uses this for comedic effect. There were moments in the movie that could have been overwhelmed by generic action movie clichťs. The film manages to twist away from dried out tropes due to Shane Blacks' well crafted script. I also enjoyed how the movie did not, pull, any punches, every action scene felt well placed and different from the previous scene; along the same lines Tony Stark has just as many actions scenes in the movie as Iron Man, this is something that I think was needed in order for us to relate with Tony after what he experienced in The Avengers. Stark saw things that now one had ever before and the effect of that permeates all of Iron Man 3, was vital because Tony is our, way into a world that is populated by aliens and gods.

The Ugly
I had a few issues with some of the visual effects that looked worse than Jurassic park, which was made 20 years ago. I also didn't quite like the score, but Iron Man was the only movie of the Marvel Cinematic universe, which had a score that was not just background music.

The Bad
All of my stuff in the Bad Category is saved for my spoiler section at the end of the review.

Over All Iron Man 3 gets 5 Mandarin Lessons out of 5

Spoilers
So as much as I like the idea of reusing the "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain" concept in an Iron Man movie, it is something kind of deflates the tension a little bit. However I am glad the ending actually came to a physical altercation something I feel happens more and more rarely in summer blockbusters but sorta of replaced a villain who felt like he could have become iconic with a guy who felt a bit generic. I also found the ending confusing even after sitting through credits seeing Mark Ruffalo and a message stating Tony Stark will return, has Tony stopped making suits altogether, is he no longer Iron Man, my nerd brain needs to know these things. I also found the way the Maya Hill character was used in movie a bit annoying, you cannot reveal a character to bad (which was kind of obvious from the start) turn her like 15% good for like a minute and then kill her off, then your just f*ing with me and the entire audience.

Eragon
Eragon(2006)

The worst film ever made before twilight but like twilight an okay cast

Warm Bodies
Warm Bodies(2013)

WARM BODIES

Now this may or may not come as a shock but I genuinely liked this movie. It was very well done and far better than the usual January slop poured into theaters around this time each year. Over all Warm Bodies should be thoroughly enjoyable but if want specifics keep reading.

THE GOOD
Warm Bodies from beginning to end is very funny which is something a movie like this needs, without a sense of humor the movie would be unwatchable, but it remain comedic enough to accentuate the rest of the movie. Warm Bodies also manages to remain fresh despite the fact that it's quite obvious the movie was only made because Twilights success. The cast of the film is amazing and manages to sell the entire movie without chewing on the scenery as some might say. Also this movie has sequences, which are shot so beautifully that I said to myself who shot this movie and what else has he done. Also the romantic story line of the film what I always think it should do, it didn't completely dictate the path of the movie which is the major reason I don't like romantic films, the romance was more of something that defined the main characters journey then made up the entirety of that journey. I also congratulate the way they delivered the message of the film. The story doesn't suggest that you need love or need to give up who you are to deserve love (unlike Twilight); Instead the film suggest that if you find love, that love in itself will change you. Which I think is much better message for young girls (unlike Twilight).

The Bad? The Ugly?
The worst element of this movie that is very present in the trailer would have to be some of the digital effects in this film. Anybody with eyes can tell that this movies effects where rushed into be finished so they could get the movie out around February, although it's an issue its not such a big part of the movie so that you can't ignored it and move on. Although I thought the movie was funny it wasn't the next step after zombie land, in fact it felt a little like a previous draft of the same movie that wasn't as bold or original. However it's still entertaining enough for just about anyone.

So Should You See It?
Definitely go see this movie if can't go see an Oscar pick or your girlfriend doesn't like Tarantino (my advice break up with her, because if you don't like Tarantino there is no hope for you as a person in my book) go see Warm Bodies, is it worth repeat viewing in theaters no, watching it on FX 2-3 years form now yes. Overall 4 reactivated hearts out of 5

The Dark Knight Rises

A wish of LONG DAYS AND PLEASANT NIGHTS to the families of Dead and the wounded survivors of the incident in Aurora, Colorado it is always a crime when people are robbed of an experience like a good film and of living; may this incident not imped future film experiences.

The Dark Knight Rises
So rarely do we remember the third chapter of any franchise, and even rarer that when we do remember we have positive opinions. Rises does perhaps the best job of breaking that mold since Return of King (in my opinion). I think people will remember this as the film in which we saw just how big a movie about BATMAN can be. If BEGINS is act one then RISES is a well-crafted ACT 3.

THE GOOD
That√¬Ę(TM)s start with performances shall we, Ann Hathaway is perfect as cat woman; I don√¬Ę(TM)t think anyone else could have done such a subtle and deep performance in between flip kicks and jewel thievery. Michael Caine gives a performance that brings strength to the film but is very much missed after his departure till the end of the film however Morgan freeman picks up with a performance that is almost a shade of his role in DARK KNIGHT but still give strength to the movie. Gary Oldman is also in very short supply this film but in the few scenes he has he deliver in everyway, including a great call back to the first movie toward the end which echoes √¬ĘIt's not who I am underneath, but what I *do* that defines me√¬Ę?. Joseph Gordon Levitt gives a great performance that may be the best in the entire film, his eyes and expressions tell you so much that he doesn√¬Ę(TM)t even need to talk; JGL needs more leading roles then he ahs been given and can be the next great American actor if all goes right.

The story of the film is very well told but deceptively simple however Act 3 doesn√¬Ę(TM)t need to be complicated it needs to make the audience feel at least 70% satisfied with the end of the story and the film does that with it scope and visual beauty. The films color pallet is bright and sunny as a way to up the ante as BATMANS major defense is stripped away by day. Overall the film is fun and inspiring and does what I think anything BATMAN should do, it made me want to be BATMAN.

THE BAD
Christian Bale who has been the back bone of the series and made the first two ACTS feel dark and brooding while at the same time let the audience know full well that he is split right down the middle didn√¬Ę(TM)t really bring it this time. His performance felt forced and uncomfortable which is unfortunate because he is truly one of the greatest actors ever in my mind. Tom Hardy one of my favorite parts of inception is a very strong villain is this movie that being said the fucking facemask makes it hard for me to get a full performance out of the movie and hides his true talent this combined with a distracting voice and unsatisfying finale to his story put him in the bad category.

Things to think about
Before going into the movie remember that this likely is not the film they planned on making back in 07√¬Ę(TM), before that death of Heath Ledger there was clearly a plan in place to continue the story of The Batman and JOKER but his death kind of destroyed any possibility of that happening, RISES is kind of like plan B which should be considered when the watching the film

BATMAN shows that any one person can make a difference in the Finale to the Nolan Arch, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES GETS *5 BROKEN BACKS OUT OF 5 (UPDATE: 4 BROKEN BACKS OUT OF 5)

*Means the rating is unstable much like Romulan warp technology, and could shift backwards with time

The Shining
The Shining(1980)

The Shinning is not a film but an exercise in how to make more than just a Horror film. The Shocking and surprising images of his earlier films are just as strong and striking here. Despite the widespread hate of king Fans the film maybe an example of a film exceeding its source material. 5 Nicholson's out of 5

2001: A Space Odyssey

I've never done Acid but i imagine this film is pretty close especially toward the end. Kubrick doesn't make a traditional film even by today's standards,Kubrick makes a billions stunning images and pieces them together to create an ever changing canvas that remains just as relevant and challenging to the new generations as it must have in the past.

American Psycho
½

Take the first half of A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, stretch it out too two hours,up the body count and brutality of the killing, make the film tasteless and film it as if it were the 80's and you have American Psycho, over all 3 and Half, 80's Business men out of 5

Prometheus
Prometheus(2012)
½

Holy Xenomorphs that was F@#%ING amazing, T.E Lawrence may have put out a match with his fingers but Ridley Scott can light a match with Prometheus. Before i continue i have to say that after prometheus i couldn‚(TM)t move because the film paralyzed me, thats how F@#%ING crazy it is.

THE GOOD
Prometheus is a solid film that leaves you F@#%ING speechless & a bit disturbed after. The film retained the illusion of the story yet delivers a ton of AH-HA moments but doesn't dwell on them long enough for it for it to interrupt the experience, the script is tight with almost no holes to speak of and tells a story that leaves a lot of philosophical to be answered afterwards. The movie is almost completely stand alone, if not for the visual style i would have no idea it had anything to with ALIEN. visually the movie is F@#%ING beautiful and haunting, i wasn't scared in the theater but later on tonight when i go to bed i have a feeling the story will change.

THE EHH?
Despite a cast of fairly notable actors, few of their performances were impressive,Theron was quite generic and is so annoying that you begin wanting to see her die. Noomi Rapace gives a fair performance but seems uncomfortable with her english, just as well if not for other characters pointing out her nationality i couldn‚(TM)t tell you where her character was from. Idris Elba gives forgettable performance just like Theron. The Shinning light as far as acting is concerned is Fassbender who gives a stellar and very original performance that doesn't copy Hendrickson or Holms interpretations of Androids.

In closing go see F@#%ING Prometheus if you like IMAX,you like ALIEN and you like Ridley Scott, 4.5 XENOMORPHS OUT OF 5; RAGE HAS SPOKEN

Marvel's The Avengers

(I start this review knowing full well that I criticized this film to extreme levels before ever even watching the film and knowing the I may have made promises in the past about what I would do to myself if I ever saw the film and based on how awesome the film was all previous comments are null and void RAGE has spoken)
OVERALL AWESOMENESS:WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was an impressive piece of work. Marvel's THE AVENGERS although not the best film I've ever seen was "incredibly" enjoyable. I came in unconvinced by the stream of love and adoration pointed toward this film. I was under the impression that miscasting by most the major roles (in my opinion) mixed with generally unimpressive films which build up to this film meant that AVENGERS would be terrible (CRY YOUR PARDON FOR I HAVE MADE A SERIOUS MISTAKE). Joss Whedon's epic comic book ultimate fan fiction and cause of a level 9000 NERDGASM is almost perfect in every way. FIRST AVENGER OUT OF 5

THE GOOD NEWS: Big Summer blockbuster like these depend on the audience forgetting they are even in a movie, should feel engrossed by the sheer scale of what you are seeing on screen; AVENGERS did this from beginning to end, every time it felt like it died down the story picked back up again.
THE STORY LINE: The Story line of the film does what it should, it remains invisible and unnoticed while you're watching adding to the sense of immersion given by the film; however during the first hour I (and this is not a criticism this is bravo) noticed the story resembled of all things THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN (5 OLD WESTERNS OF 5). Which of course perfect because action movies replaced westerns and it makes sense that they should take some elements from them. The film slowly but surely builds up the main cast character by character building up to the culmination of epic Hammer vs. Robo-Armor vs. Vibranium Shield BAD-ASSERY (yes I know that Isn't a real word). ENGROSSING & GOOD STORY = 2 AVENGERS OF 5.

ACTING/Ensemble ABILITY: Every member of the main cast was excellent. Mark Ruffalo is perhaps the best Bruce Banner ever seen on screen his since of timing and character is present every second he's there and does better than I ever thought anyone could ever do (yes that does include Edward Norton) as THE HULK. Scarlett Johansen who was great in IRONMAN 2 (3 Robo-suits out of 5) despite a fairly minor role gave an excellent performance, walking the line between super sleuth and emotionally damaged goods better than... I can't finish that sentence because she has officially set the standard for that kind of character. Jeremy Renner whom I am sad to admit I know nothing about other than his 5 minute stint in THOR (3 Mjolnir out of 5) and Supporting his role in The TOWN (4 Nun mask's out of 5) was the weakest member of the cast and really didn't add anything to the movie other that a few one liners. Chris Evan who didn't impress me in Captain America (3 Super Soldiers out of 5) did an extraordinary job of being a man out us his own time in a way that would make Michael J. Fox cry, he brings all the talent he'd shown in Sunshine (5 dying suns out of 5) & Scott Pilgrim (5 Evil X'S out of 5) to bear in the avengers. RDJ does a great job as usual. As a team the whole group gives a great job. GREAT ENSEMBLE = 1 AVENGER OF 5.

EMOTIONAL CONNECTION: A good film must connect on every emotional level or does a good job of evoking a specific emotion, AVENGERS MAKES YOU FEEL EVERYTHING!, you experience every emotional level which ups the intensity and overall strength of the film. 1 AVENGER OUT OF 5.

IN Total 5 AVENGERS OUT OF 5 (the total rating possible is 7 out of 5 which has only happened thrice)

"you can make damn sure were going to Avenge it"

it's funnier than it is scary

The Fighter
The Fighter(2010)

Two of the greatest actors ever on screen as brothers what else do i have to say

A Clockwork Orange

I didn't know why there was so much about Stanley Kubrick being the best director ever before i saw A Clock Work Orange until then i thought he was average this movie opened my eyes,i don't suggest it for women but otherwise watch it

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Sherlock Holmes A Game of Shadows: Acting was just whats expected from and A Cast, the story line was easier to see through, the explosions where the loudest I've ever heard in a movie(I've seen Trans Formers 2&3 in Theaters),The punch lines where funny but didn't have the same gut busting power the first one did,at times the camera work was so fast even i Gage Lewis had a headache overall the movie was riveting and fun,Even my 11& 13 year old brothers liked, 4 Shots of experimental drugs out of 5

The Thing
The Thing(2011)

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually scary which is hard to come by these days Four Two headed Things out of Five

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Rise of the Apes as I call it is one of the best movies I've seen all year in fact its officially in my top 5. the movie is extremely loyal to the original Planet of the Apes much like the film Predators which was to reboot the predator Franchise but went back and threw away all the crap much like Batman Begins did for batman. The film makes many in series reverences to previous film but isn't jokingly making them for fun. The human actor are bland with the exception of john Lithgow who expertly portrays a man suffering from Alzheimer's. But the apes however truly shine and show how you don't need dialog to put across emotion and talent. I also have to praise WETA digital a studio which has completely out done itself with the best effects I've seen in film in my entire life, WETA need only repeat this level of perfection once more in film and makeup artist will become obsolete and a new generation will grow up wanting to work on computers all day. 6 Apes out of 5

Star Trek
Star Trek(2009)

a Star Trek Movie everyone can watch not just for people of intelligence

The Dark Knight

This film to me is the best example of how good a sequel and an adaption of a comic book! can be,it raised the standard for "superheroes" and the only movie I've seen to try and meet it was watchmen
