Rise of the Planet of the Apes

BEST of the entire series and remakes. Decently acted with a great story and excellent effects. You don't have to be a fan of the originals (which I am) to enjoy this very original and entertaining movie. The only "Top Critic" pans have come from minor league publications that need Meryl Streep in the film to aprove it. See it and enjoy!

Hearts in Atlantis

The acting was great! The story was good but nowhere near enough to justify an hour and forty minutes. Anthony Hopkins and Anton Yelchin really saved this one.

Marvel's The Avengers

Best Super Hero movie ever. Yes! It out does Batman but, Hulk steals the movie. My favorite movie in years.

Dark Shadows
Dark Shadows (2012)

Having been a fan of Dark Shadows soap opera, I thought staying true to the original would be a huge mistake. I honestly think this parody brings back just the right amount of memories and then trashes them and many other over the top vampire flics. I really enjoyed this movie. It took quite a while to develop the characters. That was as much fun as the rest of the comedy. Campy but, not pandering. Again, FUN. Something few comedies do this well. I have an easy measure for films. If I find myself checking my watch, it's got problems. No watch checks and I'm disappointed that it's over, it's a winner. Too many critics looking for art. If you're looking for a fun escape, this is it.

Hell and Back Again

If you want any understanding of what is happening to our soldiers, see this movie. This is the real deal. Shows the internal torment like no other. Well worth watching.
