I'm not the biggest fan of Marvel but Iron Man 1, Captain America the Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 &2, and Avengers Infinity War made me a Marvel fan. I was genuinely interested in seeing the next Marvel movie but Captain Marvel has waned my interest in the franchise. The main reason I enjoyed some of the Marvel movies was because I could relate with the characters and was invested in their story. Although I knew the heroes would win in the end, I was worried about them as I watched the movie. I didn't really feel attached to Captain Marvel and I really didn't find myself rooting for her at all. She was so emotionless and cold that I hoped the movie switched to another character so I could get a break from her and hope that the next time we saw her, I would like her more. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I never felt any tension as it was so clear that she would win. Any obstacle in her way was a minor setback. I liked the other characters in the movie but the movie is heavily focused on a character I didn't care about as much as I wanted to. This movie introduces plotholes that contradict the previous Marvel movies and lessens some of the major events we've heard or seen. I'm still interested in seeing Avengers Endgame but my excitement has been significantly lessened by this movie and my worries about the possible direction Marvel could be going.
Michael Bay's best work in a long time. Intense, thrilling, beautifully shot, and well acted. 13 Hours pays tribute to the brave men and women involved that day. My only gripes would be some overuse of shaky cam during the action scenes that made it hard to focus on what was happening to the individual soldiers.
Goosebumps not only weaves together a surprising good story with fun characters but it also pays tribute to fans of the book series and TV show. If you're a fan of Goosebumps, you'll definitely have a lot of fun with this movie.
