Andres' Review of Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!
Over-the-top elephants and all sorts of weird and kooky animals run amok in this whimsical tale. Horton Hears A Who! is the latest adaptation to a Dr. Suess classic that really feels like a traditional Suess story would.
The story is set in the Jungle of Nool where Horton hears and befriends Ned, the mayor of a microscopic town called Whoville. This small town is, unbeknownst to it's inhabitants, but a single speck in grave danger of destruction. It is up to Horton to take Whoville to a much safer place even if his friends aren't as friendly as they may seem.
The visuals are mind-boggling and amazing. Roads and sidewalks are twisted and trees curve, giving off an adorable Suess-ish feel.
Horton and the rest of the cast are all perfectly executed and never seem to get annoying. The movie is funny and cheerful without ever getting stale. What really did it for me was this film's perfect climax. I have to admit I began to tear up during the climax which tells me how good of a movie this is. Jim Carrey, Steve Carrel, Seth Rogan and the rest of the cast all perfectly execute their roles and help bring life to the movie.
Overall, Horton Hears A Who! is a fun, crazy and hilarious adaptation to a cherished Dr. Suess classic. With a simple yet witty story and jaw-dropping visuals, the Doctor would be proud. 9/10
