Thinly veiled vicious attack on the so-called "white male patriarchy", capitalism and conservatives. The examples of Scrooge and Marley's unethical behaviors are just plain silly. In one scenario, they reduce the budget for timbers in their Welsh coal mine properties resulting in a collapse that destroys the mine. How stupid is that? In another, Scrooge's father arranges with the boarding school headmaster to keep Scrooge over the Christmas holidays in exchange for allowing the headmaster to rape Scrooge. Huh? The original story was one of forgiveness and redemption which gave the reader hope for mankind and uplifted the Christmas spirit. This version distorts the story with unrealistic inhuman behavior.

I have an Uncle who piloted a landing craft at Iwo Jima. He sent me a copy of the declassified plan to invade Japan. The U.S. military estimated, based on the expected ferocious defense as those encountered at Iwo Jima, that there would be one million American casualties and twenty million Japanese casualties. Somehow the fim's writers decided that this wasn't relevant.
