Waiting for Marvel's The Avengers to be released was like waiting for Santa to come down the chimney on Christmas and it's finally here and the movie was wondrous. Every bit of the movie from beginning to end was filled with action and spurts of comedy. Each introduction of our favorite characters on screen was like unwrapping a present on Christmas morning. Captain America, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye team up when Nick Fury the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. instates The Avengers to save Earth from Thor's adoptive brother, power hungry Loki. I don't want to spoil the full plot so all I will say is the movie was simply awesome and go watch it. As always with any of the Marvel franchises you'll leave the theater wanting more. (and there will be) Don't forget to stay after the ending credits!
30 Minutes or Less is about an unaccomplished pizza delivery boy, Nick, who happens to land himself in the middle of a criminals master plan. In the middle of a late night delivery Nick is kidnapped by two wannabe criminals and force him to rob a bank with a bomb vest strapped to his chest with ten hours to do so. In the process he enlists his friend Chet to help him figure out his dilemma which take them through a series of insane shenanigans.
I had no interest to watch 30 Minutes or Less in theaters. I knew it was going to be entertaining, but not worth the $10.50 for a ticket. Again, this is another movie that somehow made it into my Netflix queue and appeared in my mailbox without my knowledge. (i'm beginning to think my boyfriend is messing with my netflix queue) 30 Minutes or Less was made to be an entertaining stupid-funny movie and that's what I have to take it for. It was definitely a stupid funny movie filled with non stop action and a handful or two of good laughs. If your looking for a ridiculous comedy to watch on a movie night, then this is it.
Wendy is a small town girl who packed up her life in a tiny beaten up car to make her way to Alaska to find a job with her dog Lucy. On the way she stops off in a small Oregon town the get some sleep and finds that her car wont start in the morning. An unfortunate amount of bad luck makes it's way into Wendy's life. The dog food has run out and with not much money on hand Wendy takes a can of dog food from the grocery store only to get caught by an adolescent employee and ends up in jail. By the time Wendy gets back to the store Lucy is missing and Wendy's search for her loyal companion begins.
Wendy and Lucy is a slow paced drama. It took me two times to sit down and actually start watching the film. Being a fan of Michelle Williams was the only reason why I wanted to watch it, otherwise I would have passed it up. It's not your typical loving pet story, happy ending everything is perfect movie, but thats what makes it so great. It's a real story, with real feeling and misfortune, real life.
Rachel and Ex-husband Stephon are attending their daughters book release party. A book about her heroic parents and former partner, David, who captured and killed a notorious Nazi war criminal. As she reads an excerpt from the book she flashes back to 1966 where the true story of their courageous efforts unfold. Sometimes stories are just that, stories.
The Debt was surely a thriller with a top-notch cast. It was a gripping story from the beginning to end. (although I did get up in the middle to get a pint of ice cream out of the freezer) I did enjoy the suspense with a hint of love story. If you are a fan of espionage thrillers than you will certainly be entertained.
The Big Year is every bird lovers dream. Participants have one year beginning January 1st and ending December 31st to spot and identify as many birds as they can in the United States. Brad's life dream is to win a Big Year. Stu is in the middle of a three quarter life crisis because he's been putting off his Big Year, and Kenny has already won a big year and won't let anyone get in the way of his all time record. Each man competes to win a Big Year and in doing so finds themselves.
The Big Year is quite a a silly movie and definitely not worth most peoples time to watch. I only watched it because the movie ended up on my Netflix queue some how and I received it in the mail. Of course like every move it has its good an bad. The bad: the story line. The good: It's life lessons and morals to be learned by the end. However, if you are a fan of bird watching and enjoy spectacular scenery than this movie might be for you.
