I got to the end of episode 3 last thursday and was instantly aching for more episodes. These characters are so genuine and relevant- im very attached. My only complaint has nothing to do with the show: Apple TV+ has the worst user interface ive ever experienced. I'd watch Dickinson if I had to hand crank the film reel though.
Idk if ive ever rated a show on here before, but this one is just perfect. I cant stop rewatching it. Its so funny and quirky and heartfelt. The writing is incredible. I literally just checked out a book of emily dickinson poems from the library.
Goddamnit... I was ready to love the hell out of this reboot, the actors/creators, and to be advocating hard for a season 5. I was an original fan through UPN, the CW, the movie kickstarter, etc... but im 100% out and done now. Season 4 was simply bad writing that favored cheap thrills and weak plot over character development. It was an obvious attempt to veer away from what makes the show great (characters and the relationships between them) and toward a generic procedural. I hope they cancel this show as a message to creators that gambling on plot to try to win additional seasons will never win over genuine character-driven stories.
