Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 ups the humor, the characters, the emotional heft, and the action to bring the most original, visually dazzling blockbuster since it's predecessor. An outstanding sequel that is everything I could have asked for.
Despite a boring villain, cliche plot, and a last minute twist that has extremely unfortunate implications, Ghost in the Shell is still a gorgeous looking and well acted adaptation that respects it's source material, even if it's not as thematically interesting as before.
Brutal, harrowing, and nuanced, Logan is a triumph of the superhero genre, bringing Hugh Jackman's and Patrick Stewart's best performances of the characters along with thoughtful and engaging drama that lassos into a satisfying end one of the most beloved characters in recent memory. We'll miss ya, Wolvie.
Suffering from bizarre narrative choices and weak character development, X-Men: Apocalypse is an otherwise passable and occasionally great installment of the franchise, mainly due to the continued strong performances and glorious action set pieces.
Seamlessly blending old and new elements of the franchise together in one delightful package, X-Men: Days of Future Past combines emotional drama, exhilarating action, and surprising humor to create a wholly satisfying experience that ranks among the finest in the franchise.
