In the late 1990's I was picking through my father's old VHS collection and came across this film, never having heard of it before. I plugged it in his VCR (remember those?), got 10 minutes in, and labeled the film "80's B-movie schlock". An hour later, I found myself still watching, completely engrossed. In the years since, this film has become an old staple that I return to regularly whenever I cannot find anything on DISH Network which interests me. It is the definition of "a classic".

Strangely, at a length of one hour and 48 minutes, I wished it had been longer and delved deeper into some of the concept's more intriguing aspects.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

A rare feat in Hollywood- an improvement over the original.

The Heat

Melissa McCarthy is funny and Sandra Bullock is still hot (her age makes her hotness even more intriguing). That about sums up "The Heat".

Grown Ups 2
Grown Ups 2 (2013)

Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2 are both bad movies. But, the original had a throwback cheesiness which smacked sentimental for those who fondly remember the 80's.. Grown Ups 2 lacks the retro charm and instead relies on an endless string of pratfalls and bad one-liners which makes the watcher sentimental only for the original.
