Pretty much the cheesiest movie ever made. That's not to say the acting or writing were bad (the directing WAS bad) but it's neither a children's film nor appropriate for thinking adults under age 80. Bravo to Hanks but a pox upon the producers who think this is all the art American audiences can handle.
A meditation about a place and time. I don't for a minute buy Joan Allen as Native American or Sam Elliot as her husband, but if you can look past that there are some great performances and meditative moments.
Cliche melodrama that thinks American boarding schools are mean and nasty like British ones. Made worse by trying to have a bunch of adults play teenagers. First time I've seen Ed Burns give a bad performance (brought down by the script, no doubt) Nothing remotely suspenseful nor sexy about it.
