Meg Bennett's Movie Ratings - Rotten Tomatoes

Movie Ratings and Reviews

Mysterious Skin

The director doesn't shy away from the gritty details and this in turn keeps you intrigued from start to finish; Although some scenes are difficult to see, It's definitely worth a watch.

American Mary

A really strong performance from Isabelle (Who previously starred in the Ginger Snaps trilogy) the visual effects were also impressive, thankfully the victims were easily despised which made the torture scenes satisfying to watch. Although the genre seems poles apart from your average horror flick, as the film draws to a close it becomes more mainstream.

Secret Window

I personally found the twist a little predictable but the flawless and very real performance from Depp made it a captivating watch.

Giving this film the happy ending that is expected; Wouldn't of made the impact that it has. I also read that the canings were real and the boys were payed an extra 50p for their trouble!

This is 40
This is 40(2012)

Despite a number of laugh out loud moments and a brilliant cast, the genre is inconsistent jumping from depressing to hilarious which gradually becomes exhausting. The inferior sequel to 'Knocked Up.'

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

Carell and Knightly? Big mistake. Not only is there a repulsive looking age gap but there was no believable chemistry between the two.

White Oleander

A powerfully written and acted film about a mother's unconditional love for her daughter Astrid and how far she will go to keep the bond between them while being incarcerated. A strong performance from Alison Lohman.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

After seeing Breaking Dawn Part 1, I had low expectations for this one, but i found myself pleasantly surprised. (Partly due to seeing K Stew squeeze out the odd smile!) It's unpredictable, tense and slightly funny. All in all not a bad end to the tedious sequels.

Ghost Town
Ghost Town(2008)

Fans of the Office and Extras will more than likely be disappointed. On the other hand, as American comedies go, it was okay.

Life of Pi
Life of Pi(2012)

The trailer does not do this film justice, mainly due to the fact it's in 3D and it relies mainly on the outstanding effects.

The Impossible

Although this is an impressive true story, as a film it was unsuccessful. I found witnessing the constant struggle endured by the family was similar to my own watching it.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

An interesting idea for a film but aside from the undeniably sweet moments, it's predictable ending makes it average and an easily forgotten film.

Loving Annabelle

Although the acting is dodgy in places (to say the least) the chemistry between Brooks and Gaidry is commendably convincing at times.

The Tracey Fragments

A low budget film that relies on a good script and good acting. Page has a knack of making her character charming and likable.

Hard Candy
Hard Candy(2006)

The turned tables of villain and victim make this thriller one worth seeing.

The mixture of dark humour and mild horror is a pleasing watch. The main character is brilliant!

Mean Girls
Mean Girls(2004)

What every other teen film aspires to be!

Ginger Snaps
Ginger Snaps(2001)

A brilliant dark comedy horror based on the confusion between the effects from a monster bite and menstruation. Also an excellent strong female cast. 5/5

Itty Bitty Titty Committee

The characters are poorly acted and offensively stereotyped - Cringe inducing to say the least!

The Accused
The Accused(1988)

Foster gives an outstanding performance, possibly her best as she takes on the role of a head-strong young woman who strives for justice despite others judgments. An ideal watch for feminists :-)

Bridget Jones's Diary

It's hard not to feel affection for the main character with Zellwegar's unflinchingly honest and hilarious performance. And a guaranteed a feel-good ending!

The Inbetweeners

As a fan of the Inbetweeners series, I found the film to be disappointing. While it has it's witty moments, most of the jokes are crude and tasteless.

Snow White and the Huntsman

A less than satisfactory script concealed behind special effects. I found watching this was more of an endurance rather than enjoyment.
