Kia's Review of Django Unchained
A burst of pure entertainment and scripting genius from Tarantino. Django follows the journey of the title character played by Jamie Foxx as he follows in the footsteps of German bounty huter by the name of Dr. King Schultz, played by Christoph Waltz, who masquerades as a dentist while taking out the area's lawbreakers. Django soon takes a liking to the profession, and becomes quite learned in the art of slaying. Schultz then agrees to take Django to rescue his enslaved wife, Broomhilda, from gleefully racist plantation owner Clavin Candie, portrayed by Leonardo Dicaprio. Dialogue is prevalent and faithful to the time period, but still witty and enjoyable in Tarantino fashion. The pacing starts out fast and slows down in the dialogue-heavy portions, but it is well-balanced with the bloody, exhilerating action scenes. By the end, you walk away with a light history lesson while satisfied by the story and high production value.
