I love the dark humor on display in this movie.

Evil Dead
Evil Dead (2013)

This is one of the very few remakes, reboots, etc., that I have enjoyed.

Sure, it wasn't as groundbreaking as the original Evil Dead, but it was still a faithful adaptation for a modern audience. I thought it was an apt metaphor for drug addiction and withdrawal. It really is hell to go through it and feels like you are possessed by demons, so kudos to them for that.

Plus, the actors were put through the paces of a lot of the action in order to capture a more authentic feel.

Captain America: The First Avenger

This is a solid introduction to Captain America, but it's still a very average superhero movie.

Mad Max: Fury Road

This movie is a perfect action movie. There is no unnecessary dialogue or exposition, just in-the-moment character and story development. And yet, the cast is able to convey the complexities of their characters and the history of the post-apocalypse world with body language and interpersonal interaction.

That most of the action was filmed live, with CGI only augmenting what couldn't be captured in reality, makes it that much more visceral. What is seen on the screen is actually happening, and it draws you in even more.

Interstellar (2014)

Interstellar is a visually stunning movie! Filled with grand, sweeping pictures and a humanity-encompassing sense of scale. Nolan has a grad vision of hope and determination.

Sure, the ending becomes a tad hokey, with the whole "Love is another physical dimension we can interact with" sentiment, but overall the science stays reasonably grounded in fact or potential fact.
