mother! (2017)
Me, two hours into the movie: "Wow, there's a lot going on here! I can't wait to see how they answer all of these questions and end this story!" ... Also Me, after the movie ends with hundreds of loose ends and a twist no one asked for: "BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Cold Pursuit (2019)
Rookie screenwriter has many moments of campy brilliance, but 20-30 minutes of uninspired filler bog down the back half of the movie and make it feel like a chore.

Palm Springs (2020)
Not sure if Rotten Tomatoes' critics' consensus description as a "refreshingly original concept" holds true, considering we've seen this format done before with Groundhog Day, Happy Death Day, Russian Doll, etc. However, one could make the case that Palm Springs executes that concept the best out of all of them.

Secret Window (2004)
Maybe I've seen too many thrillers, but when the "signature twist" is no-so-subtly telegraphed with an hour left in the film, it doesn't exactly pack the punch that anyone was hoping for.

Shutter Island (2010)
I didn't like this movie when it was "Secret Window" with Johnny Depp, so I didn't exactly enjoy it more with 45 extra minutes of runtime.

Killing Gunther (2017)
A great concept and excellent cast somehow squandered by mockumentary tropes and an overall lack of laughs.

The Guest (2014)
It's a paper-thin script, but is full-throttle straight from the get-go and features and elite soundtrack to underscore the action.
