An interesting story in thought, quickly drowns with amazingly bad pacing, bland characters and not much happening on screen. There is never a sense of time being felt here. It appears that for every minute they spend in the amazon one month passes back home. While Charlie Hunnum is better than usual, his performance still falls short, with little emotion and charisma given to the character he plays. Honestly, Robert Pattison, who had the best character and performance of the film, should have been the lead. With bad pacing a movie that's over 2 hours long is going to become agonizing to watch and unfortunately that's what happened. The film manages to giving us some interesting moments with the natives of the amazon but then brings us back home to only further an uninteresting story about Hunnum's kids and wife in addition to shoehorning in WWI with the same characters that traveled together in the amazon jungle.
