This movie serves as a potent reminder us of how we could always show more empathy, especially in the face of social swarming.

This is pure Cohen Brothers with some of their, and my, favorite actors playing some dense roles. Young John Turturro and John Goodman are at their best in this, and that's saying a lot considering how much I love Goodman in Raising Arizona. If you love Cohen Brothers movies, this should be required viewing. If you don't, but you're looking for a strange, dark dramadey filled with symbolism and metaphor, you should check out Barton Fink. It's streaming on Netflix!

The Woman in Black 2 Angel of Death

I don't know what's scarier about this movie: That it was actually released to mass audiences, or that money was given to make it. That's the only thing scary about this movie. The most horror is conjures is cheap jump-scares by nothing sinister: A prankster kid, a flapping bird, etc. The film itself is dull and bleak with a garbled storyline. The characters weren't worth investing my attention in. The titular Woman in Black shows up only a few times, notably in a split-second hanging shot reminiscent of Geena Davis in Beetlejuice. The redeeming qualities of this movie are the WWII links, including showing how Britain used a fake airfield to misdirect the Germans during the Blitz.
