The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
4 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Now, I love the Lord of the Rings, but when I saw the Hobbit, I thought to myself. This is not LOTR. Yes, it's in the same world with the same characters but it just doesn't have the charm the original films had, and I know the problem. LOTR felt the way it did because the use of CGI was small compared to today and Peter Jackson chose to use practical effects for most of it. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey however does not use practical effects for most of it. The whole thing is a CGI monster. It is a good movie, don't get me wrong but it isn't as great as the LOTR. Peter Jackson did a great job filming it as the cinematography is so inspired, the acting (especially by Martin Freeman) is top-notch, the film still looks good, I had no problem with the script and the music, if reused for the most part is still as breathtaking as ever
