Movie Ratings and Reviews

Guardians of the Galaxy

original, right amount of humor, definitely as good as Winter Soldier, one of the few movies I'd highly recommend to pay the extra for 3D

Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow

exceeded expectations, definitely top 5 movie of the summer, fantastic plot, director Doug Limen delivers again

Blended
Blended(2014)

better than expected, Terry Crews was gold

The LEGO Movie
½

believe the hype, its almost in the "Toy Story" GREAT tier but just a notch below it, great watch

The To Do List

Loved it, Aubrey's performance was great, and loved her sister relationship with Rachel Bilson. Can't get enough of the early 90s references. Seems like American Pie femal version knock off, but still fun watch

Pacific Rim
Pacific Rim(2013)

fun movie to watch, good original story, with nice homage to old Japanese over the top scifi 80s/90s movies

White House Down

Decent, jokes were corny at times, I was entertained, but thought Olympus is Fallen was miles better

Fast & Furious 6

how do you followup to the surprising Fast Five? You add Gina Carano, Joe Taslim from The Raid: Redemption, change the setting to London, turn up the action by a few notches and you got Fast 6. All the credit should go to Justin Lin, who broke out with the indie John Cho staring "Better Luck Tomorrow", took over with the underrated Tokyo Drive and has evolved the series into heist/allstar cast leading up to FF6. For good measure, they decided to end the movie with one of the most epic cameos in the past decade to make all 6 movies come in full circle...

The Hangover Part III

not bad, not great, it's going to be panned, but still funny, there is no "Hangover" theme until the extra scene after the first set of credits. More of a road trip/heist movie. I haven't even seen Fast/Furious 6 yet, but I'd probably recommend it over this movie before even seeing Fast 6. Go in with lower expectations and you'll enjoy it more. Other wise, it'll be more "meh" to you

Star Trek Into Darkness
½

Great great sequel, can't praise it enough, definitely top 5 of the summer by end of the season, not of a fan of "premium" viewing, but this is actually worth the extra $3 for the 3D upconversion

The Great Gatsby

better than expected, Leo being Leo, Tobey being Tobey, but Warrior's Joel Edgerton puts on an outstanding performance

Iron Man 3
Iron Man 3(2013)

gritter, darker of the trilogy, wish there was more War Marchine/Iron Patriot, not as much action as the previous 2 but better storyline, not your average bubble gum comic book movie, solid start to Summer 2013

Pain & Gain
Pain & Gain(2013)

very surprised, Michael Bay haters are going to hate, but he entertains. Trailers are misleading as this is a DARK comedy. The Rock pulls off a Channing Tatem/21 Jump Street comedic performance where you didn't think he had it in him. Definite watch, just don't think your getting a buddy comedy movie out of it, cause your not....

Olympus Has Fallen
½

solid movie, Gerard Butler needs to stop doing chick flicks and kicks some ass like Jason Statham, fast beginning, lots of action, good to see Rick Yune getting roles also, been underrated since being in the original '01 Fast and the Furious

Oblivion
Oblivion(2013)

Visually stunning, plot predictable, Olga Krylenko is naturally beautiful...

½

Solid baseball movie, wish it was more in depth behind the scenes with Jackie

Evil Dead
Evil Dead(2013)

Predictable, if it wasn't for the gore I would've been bored...

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Better than the first, a bit long with runtime a bit over 2 hours.

The Incredible Burt Wonderstone

Good comedy, wish there was a bit more Jim Carrey, at worst, you'll get Olivia Wilde eye candy

The Call
The Call(2013)
½

Way better than expected, solid thriller but cliché ending

Admission
Admission(2013)

Generic storyline with Fey and Rudd playing their usual characters, kind of like Paul Weitz previous work with About A Boy

Spring Breakers
½

If you can get past Harmony artsy directorial style, great story, fantastic performance by James Franco

Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey

not only does it show the backstory of Arnel, but also goes back to how Journey was created in the mid 70s, good watch

Oz the Great and Powerful

Better than expected, great prequel story to the iconic fairytale

Dead Man Down
½

Solid thriller, no more, slow paced, thought Side Effects was much better

Side Effects
Side Effects(2013)
½

Great mystery, thinker flix

Jack the Giant Slayer

Not bad with low expectations going in

Snitch
Snitch(2013)
½

Great story, Rock showing his acting range

Identity Thief
½

Melissa McCarthy type humor, solid supporting cast. More of a road trip type flix.

Broken City
Broken City(2013)

Too many characters to keep up with, but still keeps you guessing, I enjoyed it

The Impossible

real gruesome, not for the light hearted. Good story and riveting on how far they went to being realistic as possible

Bullet to the Head
½

Usual beat up action Stallone movie, but like Arnold's Last Stand better.

21 And Over
21 And Over(2013)
½

Decent, its no Project X, but still entertaining

Warm Bodies
Warm Bodies(2013)
½

Loved the originality, fun flick

10 Years
10 Years(2012)

A more serious tone high school reunion movie compared to American Reunion, great cast, wish it had a wider theatrical release

Skyfall
Skyfall(2012)

A bit long, but Sam Mendes adds some flair to the long running series

This is 40
This is 40(2012)

Not as long as Funny People, which is a good thing. Judd/Leslie's kids have a fantastic acting niche

Wreck-it Ralph

Loved it, very nostalgic for any gamer that grew up in the 90s

Jack Reacher
Jack Reacher(2012)
½

Fun flick, Cruise reputation/generic character routine can be over looked in this flick

Lincoln
Lincoln(2012)

Not the historic type moviegoer but Lewis continues to show his acting chops

The Last Stand
½

Surprisingly good, solid under the radar flick
