Rating History

The Lone Ranger
3 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Though too long and tonally uneven, it's still plenty of summer fun, providing over the top action and consistent laughs from Depp (though just a blatant rehash of Jack Sparrow, one can't help but enjoy him).

Machine Gun Preacher

The film is uneven, too long and over-stuffed, but Butler's character arc is fascinating to watch, providing an uncanny complexity and depth.

Safe Haven

Yes, it's formulaic, mostly predictable, and cliche ridden. But there is a real heart buried underneath it all, and I would be lying if I said my eyes didn't get a tad watery at points. It isn't art, but it is passable romance with some deeper themes, and occasional bursts of surprise, drama, and joy rising above it's dullness. It is on part with other movies of this type (ie. Sparks and co), and the movie goers attracted to this sort of thing will get mostly what they paid for.

Identity Thief

McCarthy and Bateman work their magnificent butts off to milk the script for all it's worth. It's not a great movie (it's far too long), but the leads are so endearing that everything else can be forgiven.
