I remember my family forcing me to see this film cause my brother really wanted to go to it. This was legitimately the first movie where I felt I had to force a smile while watching it. My biggest issue, outside of the fact that it's not funny in the slightest, is that the voice acting for the animals was beyond horrific. They were times where it felt like they came into the studio drunk as many of the lines were mumbled and borderline incoherent. It's not even one of those "bad movie night" type of films, just one you should avoid at all costs
This movie is a mess and made me realize why so many people hate Tyler Perry. From dislikable characters to a cookie cutter plot to an ending that left more loose ends than I can count, this is a film you don't need to waste your time watching.
I honestly enjoyed it. Granted, I haven't read the book or seen the original 1990 version, but I appreciated it for what it was. A fun, campy, kind of creepy film that had its fun moments. If you have an HBO Max account and want a cute little film to pass the time, I can easily recommend this one.
