A solidly entertaining, well cast movie and with a well judged running time of 87 minutes it doesn't out stay its welcome. The ending might be somewhat predictable but to be fair that's my only small complaint.
The Dead Zone is amongst the best of Stephen King's novel adaptations and is a chilling, atmospheric, well crafted story. There's a moustache twirling "maniacal villain" scene involving Martin Sheen that feels somewhat overplayed towards the end but thats a small gripe for what is an otherwise excellent film.
Packed with great characters, action and creature design, this is sci-fi horror at it's most entertaining.
The acting is largely solid and the script strikes a perfect balance between seriousness and fun. There are also some wonderfully quotable one liners. Memorable and very rewatchable.
Bizarrely entertaining and packed with inventive, ridiculous action, it's only a deliberately underwritten script that lets it down a little. Either way, ignore the critics score, this movie is a hell of a lot of fun, if a little repetitive at times.
