Unlike the first LEFT BEHIND movie this film only focuses on the day of the crisis event and the panic that sets in. It starts off with exposition to set up all the characters and to show just an ordinary day in the lives of the characters but then the movie shocks you into intensity and thrills that sustain the rest of the film. It has some great comic relief that made the entire audience LOL. The casting was very good for the main characters, Chad Michael Murray from One Tree Hill playing a handsome and charismatic journalist Buck, & Nicolas Cage who gave a highly believable performance as Ray Steele and Cassi Thomson playing Cage's daughter.
A story based on the events to come from the bible this movie surprisingly doesn't shove the bible down your throat and is enjoyable for everyone believers and non believers alike. If you like natural disaster or world crisis movies you'll enjoy this film. Its not an Oscar worthy film, of course, but some of the most fun and enjoyable movies never are. Go see it on the big screen before its gone. We enjoyed it so much we plan on going to see it again. I left the theater with my heart still racing. 5 Stars!
Poor film making at its best. CGI in the opening scene when describing how "The Creator" created the earth made me laugh out loud. In that moment I knew it was all downhill from their. NOAH film came off like a student film. Crowe gave a great performance but the story was not only lacking but inaccurate. I was expecting to be wowed with some special effects for the flood scene but nothing inspired me.... Considering the director & writer are atheist its no wonder the film insults the sacred biblical text about Noah.... SPOILERS.....
Not only do they not use the word God once in the film, which is mentioned 29 times in the bible, this movie depicts NOAH a violent man. God chose Noah because of his righteousness & goodness but this movie at one point has Noah trying to kill his newborn twin grand children to spare the earth of repopulation of people. This right here totally contradicts why God chose Noah & his family because they were good and God wanted the planet to be repopulated by his family after the cleansing of all men from the flood. The movie has Noah drunk as stated in the bible but for some fabricated reason of his own guilt about not killing his grand children who will now repopulate the planet. Noah thinks God only wants the planet to be repopulated with the innocent animals from the ark. Here is where again this movie contradicts the bible where God told Noah to go forth and multiply the planet with his family.
There is one distortion after another.
The director chose not to use the word God as to make it more universal. Well this story is not universal as only Jews & Christians believe in it. In trying to be more universal by not using the name God in the film, they ended up offending more people than not.
Poor CGI in this film made it laughable at many moments. Fabricated characters, relationships, etc. The bible clearly states Noah was to bring his 3 sons and their wives on the ark but Noah still had a young child and 2 of the sons did not have wives, so how was the world to repopulate with 3 sons & 1 wife?... I can go on an on but trust me as a Christian when I say this film is an insult to bible believers & a waste of your money. If you are curious wait for the rental at RedBox for $1 . I want my 2 1/2 hours and my $14 back!!!!
