A worthwhile remake of the Japanese original, which I've never seen. The Ring remake itself is well-constructed horror movie with some of the scariest visuals I've seen in a video in a movie. Samara holds up as one of the creepiest and most unsettling monsters of this age of horror movies. SUCK IT, GRUDGE!
I guarantee that this gift from above shall smite all those terrible, terrible moments in Spongebob history. From season 5 onwards, the strange, flat humor will be replaced with the subtle, smart-ass wit from the original 3 seasons. (I'm not sure what to say about season 4; that one I'm a little conflicted about. It was a mix of both kinds of humor.) The disgusting detail of the slapstick in season 6 and onwards (the toenail in House Fancy, the ripping off skin in Sandcastles in the Sand, the Splinter, and the expressions is Face Freeze) will be no more in future seasons! The flanderization of our favorite characters will not be non-existent! Spongebob will return to being kind, stable, AWARE OF HIS SURROUNDINGS, compassionate, and happy, not this weird, oblivious, alien life form that brings misery to all, especially the watcher. Patrick will return to his witty, but no to his own accord, resourceful, friendly, and hilarious former self, not the strong-armed asshole they make him out to be nowadays. Squidward, oh, the poor dear, will NOT be subject to his neighbor's torment, as well as the town's people's. Nobody shall hate Squidward anymore! Mr. Krabs will be the cheap, helpful, wise-ish old restaurant owner, not the petty CRIMINAL he is currently. Sandy will go back to being the sweet, strong, tough, tech-savvy country bumpkin that became a role model for little girls, and not the weird, feminazi, mad scientist that scams others for her own benefit. Phew! That just about does it! For all the characters I didn't mention have either stayed the same or been flanderized only once (i.e. Mrs. Puff in Demolition Doofus). You know what, I wouldn't mind if the show just ended after the release of this movie. Hopefully the current idiots in charge will make one smart decision.
