Yet again, critics do not seem to be on par with audiences. The divide is clearly worrying! The general criticism for the film seems to be violence. Have critics not seen Natural Born Killers?? This is a brilliant character study about the decent into madness and violence. Phoenix's performance is the best of the year. Who would have though that the Director of The Hangover movies could have made something so masterful. There are echoes of Taxi Driver all over this film and the end product is a film that can be mentioned in the same breath as Scorsese's classic. An instant masterpiece!!
Clearly The Last Jedi was the brain child of Kathleen Kennedy. You would never have thought that Rian Johnson would have made that abomination. This is the Rian Johnson who brought us such clever and intelligent movies like Brick and Looper. The film is utterly unpredictable and keeps you guessing until the third act reveal. The script is quite literally one step ahead of you. It's the kind of film that once you have seen the twists you can go back and re-watch how they pieced together. The stellar cast are all great too and the film wastes none of it's 130 minute run time.
An incredible achievement. 4th films in franchises always falter. Jason Bourne, Scream 4, Alien Resurrection. All have been awful. Toy Story 4 not only has the best story out of all the Toy Story's but is the most emotionally satisfying. Superb
Brilliant filmmaking. Gritty, Realistic and Brilliantly Directed. Nicole Kidman is a revelation here. The bank shootout is excellent and on par with Heat. Kidman should have been nominated for this, her best role in years!
