Sophomoric idea like the kind that is inspired by smoking pot. Extra cringe points for the deeply ironic line "What do you mean 'your wife'?"
The ultimate cliche endings to complicated plots and exposition used to be something called deus ex machina, which means supernatural or divine hands intervened to bring things to an end. It's a cheap out. Today's update could be called "time line exmachina". Now everything gets explained with the soon to be cliched different time lines mojo explaining the surreal of mysteries. To add to the cliche factor is gratuitous lesbians coupled, and in a "fuck pile." Not watching season 2.
OK, take the sympathetic Dexter sociopath character, make him a millennial, and set him in an old bookstore instead of a police station. Now you have the crux of "You". This is a horror rom-com. The acting is great, but narration is lumbering. Is there really such things as lovable sociopaths? For all the exposition, the Joe Goldberg is pretty two dimensional. Beck is well fleshed out and nicely acted, for a stage prop supporting role. Season one ends with a disappointing clunk. Will not follow any further seasons.
Crappy cliche revenge Western intersected with Hollywood liberal preaching about improbable strong women and cliche western hero men. The women are ballsy, the men are either rapist murdurer bad guy, or non-treatening to the women macho good guys. Feminist propaganda preach down on us again. Gratuitous lesbian paring that also does not fit small town New Mexico 1885. Sexual relations are started by all the leads, but always by a woman, never by a man. Women may run the show, but men are whimps in romance. This thing is so contrived and full of political, cultural agenda stuff that crapps up a lot of Nexfix products lately. Here's hopping they get it out of their system.
Stupid resurrection premise goes unexplained, leaving gaping plot holes. While acting is good, most of the characters are not likeable, although a couple try hard to be. The costuming is the worst. The character Katie dresses nothing like the character she acts: waifish, demure young maiden hair outfit belies her tiger personality. The younger white women almost all wear outfits that exaggerates their sexuality, yet none of them act sexy in the least. Dreary, humorless dialog. Only the mystery get me watching, but it's not enough.
