This is adult filmmaking at it's best. Acting, scripts, sets and costume are all spot on. The subtle performances are a delight as actors delve into an intelligent script that speaks to a long, traditional marriage. Outstanding performances!
Suspenseful, creepy fun. Watch with popcorn, a warm afghan and be creepily entertained by John Goodman as a woman's worst nightmare!
Interesting, fun, intriguing and moves nicely all the way up until the end where the denouement is a huge let down. The "wonder" on the faces of those witnessing the end actually looks like actors pretending to a green screen. But up until then it's fun as we wonder exactly what's what and where the story is headed.
Interesting concept with a mysterious vibe that is revealed midway and from there the film is a will they or won't they escape. I think the potential was much greater than the results. The gal sketching what reminds me of the smoke monster from Lost detracts rather than intrigues as do many other aspects but for a night of mindless fun. Watch it!
What prompts some reviewers to 4 or more stars is the very thing that is unappealing to me. I like slow pacing but in this case I do not feel the characters are interesting enough (at the outset) to successfully support the very slow pacing. That makes sticking with the story a struggle. Photographed well, acting is fine, but the pacing is so slow it is going to be a hard sell for many if not most viewers.
