Just like the original, this is a needed anomaly in film, during the time it was released. The people that don't understand this are the fans of generic Hollywood garbage, not open to seeing anything new.
I'm very happy this site gave it the 100% it deserves. This is definitely the best movie of the year.
If the series had ended with this movie, it have been the perfect quadrilogy. Parts 2, 3 and 4 make a great Jason trilogy, and the ending of this one felt like a good way to round it out. The casting was great. The kills were cool. Nothing felt overdone, and it being pre-CG, the blood looked perfect.
For the haters of this movie: go watch Avatar, or whatever garbage you're into, because you obviously aren't a slasher movie fan anyway :P
Worst comedy of the decade. People just gave it a good rating, due to it's sneaky promotional campaign, where people believed it got banned. This is so rotten, it's turned white, like a turd that no one picked up for months.
I had to re-edit this movie to 53minutes, in order to make it enjoyable. I took out all the Ferris Beuler zoom-ins, the Ebert character, the news storyline, the eggs/mother story, and most of the wise-cracks (since it is most of the dialog, just bad joke piled onto bad joke). There are a lot of top-down helicopter shots, but I left them in. I also put the original Godzilla theme back in, and removed that horrible Puff Daddy/Led Zeppelin song at the credits.
Still if you're willing to do the work I did, it's a watchable movie, but I would never wish someone to watch the real edit, until I hated them.
I figured out a way to not hate this piece of garbage!!
The trick is to watch it like it were an episode of Intervention, and ignore it's inclusion into the Evil Dead franchise. This way it's about a bratty junky that kills her intervention group, making it a dark-comedy.
It took me two years to even finish this, since I was such a fan of the trilogy, but that was my trick, and it got me to sit through the whole thing. The kick in the teeth was that Ash appears after the credits, as to pretty much say "GFY".
