As a middle aged man enamored with this show up to Season 3, and a sucker for a good love story, not to mention a fan of history, I nearly gave up halfway through this season. It really turned into a soap opera really quick from the start of this season up to about the halfway point. Everybody was seeing or sleeping with everybody, and couples were all around Melrose Place style, ha ha. The characters brilliant acting continued but the lines they were fed made my eyes roll in the back of my head: "we can have secrets, but no lies". Meanwhile Jamie is lying left and right to everybody. And Claire is living a lie for 15 years in Boston. But, then it recovered and finished strong.
Season two picked up where Season 1 left off and though the setting changed the superb acting continued, the supporting characters are very likable and often steal the show and our hearts, as a middle aged man I am enjoying this show but to be honest I keep asking myself could this be the second greatest cover up for adultery since Mother Marry (not being rude, just criticizing the plot not the show or the acting, or characters) love the history of it, and find myself Wikipediaing Scotland, France, England history and monarchs, etc. Overall smart show.
I can get behind the premise and the acting and casting is superb, the only reason for 4.5 stars instead of 5.0 is the overwhelming unnecessary detail or certain depth in the last episode (account left out to prevent spoiler alerts in this review) let's see if the momentum carries over to their sophomore season, watching in 2020 so flying right through the episodes
i think it was in this season where they overdid the whole camera man freestyling with the camera rather than keeping it fixed, I know that's what this show was known for but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing, yes this is a solid show but if I had to nit pick it would be that, at times I felt virtigo or dizzy
first of all how can this have an Audience Score of 100% liked it if there are no audience reviews, and mine is the first and only one, ok now on to the review, I am watching this show in 2018 and I only saw parts of episodes when this was out and boy I wish I watched it in real life it would have been totally in line with my own time line, although I did not think the pilot episode was as mind blowing as everyone has said, the show is very good, so far, it is really neat to see all the no names who came through the ER doors as special guests and have become stars of their own
sEason 1 was four stars season two was not as interesting so i give it two stars hoping that season three rebounds, harry's wife is not an interesting character nor a talented actress in this role by any means, the crate and barrel guys are hillarious, nice to see recycled actors from The wire
