For those who like the Star Wars franchise - I can honestly say that the marketing whore disney has ruined it by making it high budget special effect movie and low budget acting. Jar Jar was the ruination of Ep 1, 2, and lastly 3 with the horrible acting of Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen to add insult to injury. Now with Ep 7 you have a story not reflecting in any of the books or comics but is totally for marketing purposes. The relationship between Finn and Poe's was weak. They made Luke out to be a coward in hiding and Leia having no powers? WTF! The movie loses its Force after the first half and has little to no plot or character development. Adam Driver was worse than Hayden Christensen in his role as a Kylo Ren. Lastly Han Solo (Harrison Ford) made it clear he was just there for the money, and in all honesty I would have preferred to have seen Mark Hamel playing a role over him. The one good thing about the movie is it keeps the series alive and I hope they come out with an extended edition blue ray to fill in all the blanks. Well on a plus note Disney made a fortune off this movie and all the merchandise to go with it.
I know there was a lot of hype on this movie and it starts off with some amazing action but grinds to a slow dragged out series of events which lead up to the climax at the end. I just found it long and drawn out but cannot see the hype of Dicaprio's so called amazing acting. There was a movie called Jeremiah Johnson (1972) with Robert Redford which had a better story and acting in it compared to this...sadly he didn't win any awards for his part in the movie. Even Apocalypsa (Mel Gibson's) was much more amazing than this - anyway you be the judge.
Just watched this movie in theater last night and it was great. Sure the girlfriend thing in the movie was different from the comic and the whole nonsense with his origin in Wolverine the Movie was silly, but if you can put that aside this movie was true to the character Wade "Deadpool" which is what made it so good. I would compare this movie slightly to KickAss with its tongue in cheek humor and graphic violence and very moderate nudity/sexual innuendo. Overall it is current and I give it a great rating - hope to see the followup movie sooner than later.
The original Zoolander was really funny for the time but sadly this movie is behind the times, and just didn't do it for me. Its kinda sad that some of these actors are playing in movies like this and it shows that they are living in the past. There is slap stick and shock value but there is a style to making a good comedy. I see the same quality in Adam Sandler's video;s - just quickly slapped together with poor story and rushed production. Was a waste of a ticket to go see this movie - wait till its on the TV screen before watching.
