Not as good as the original, but still an excellent movie. Much like the book this part is weaker than the first half. However, I like the fact that the ending was changed for the better. Bill Hader steals the show. Upstaging both Chastain and McAvoy. There are no real weak performances in this film. I do wish there were more Pennywise though. He is hidden throughout this film to build suspense. Besides Hader the story between Bev and Ben is really amazing. The direction was really strong and the film looked beautiful. Great time at the movies for sure.
A surprise of a movie. Never had any high hopes for this one, but walked out really impressed. It isnt perfect and the narrative jumps a bit. The actors do a good job for a bunch of people I had never heard of. The visuals are really fun and there are a few good jump scares that sneak up on you. I can see this turning into a yearly franchise that keeps going and going.
Another great outing for the franchise. Michael B. Jordan continues to prove his acting chops with Adonis Johnson. Watching the character go through 2 life altering changes and how he rediscovers himself is a true underdog story. Ringing back to its roots of the Rocky movies, Creed II does everything it can to hit the heart strings. The love between Adonis and B is really touching. The two of them may not see eye to eye on everything, but that is what makes them so endearing to the audience. They feel real. The true hero of this film is the script. Giving Viktor and Ivan a struggle and a reason for being monsters is something that was needed in Rocky 4. This strengthens a movie that is 30 years old. Like any Rocky movie, or great sports movie, the training sequences are fantastic. Getting the audience pumped up to go along on the ride with the characters. The score is also a triumph! Every musical tone fits perfectly. A must watch.
Introducing new characters and building upon already established ones. This movie does a wonderful job balancing the old and new. Jessica Cruz and Starboy are great additions. Showing audiences that superheroes have flaws, dark spots, and fears. Most see these characters as bullet proof characters. Cruz and Starboy prove otherwise. Cruz suffers from severe PTSD and Depression to where she cannot get out of her apartment. She must overcome her fears and disabilities to move forward to her potential. Starboy suffers from Schizophrenia and has a hard time adjusting to the time jump of going back in time. This really drew me in and kept me watching. A must watch for any DC fan.
This is Tarentino through and through. His style and film flow oozes from frame to frame. I wouldnt say it's his best work, but it is entertaining nonetheless. The whole film has you wanting to know what's next for Cliff and Rick. There is constantly the question of Sharon Tate in the back of your mind as well. Tarentino does what he does best and twists the story to an unexpected end and shares a laugh or two along the way. The dialogue is the strength of this film. Keeping me interested in the characters and their lives.
