Besides some aspects that come off sort of cheesy at times, this movie kept me engaged for the whole 2 hours and 39 minute running time. Zahler has a very unique and recognizable style with his films, and I absolutely love it. Best movie of the year so far in my book.
Although sort of slow and confusing at times, Don't Look Now is a very well crafted drama/horror film that showcases some great camerawork, acting, and a complex and intriguing story.
Perhaps if it were handled on a more comedic level, I'd like it, but this film has pretty much nothing going for it. The script is terrible, the villain is laughable, and the gore is just WAY too much. It's few redeemable qualities are overshadowed by its mean-spirited nature. Unless you want to feel sick afterwards, there's really no reason to check out this so-called "film." Disgusting.
The film's close ties to the original help it tremendously, yet the filmmaking isn't very inspiring. Watching this one right after the original is fun to do. Plus, the film isn't very scary, and Michael walks too slow. He walks REALLY SLOW. Pretty good overall. I'd recommend it.
This Halloween installment is the most "Halloweeny" out of the three, but it falls flat due to its lack of Shape. Get it? The concept's cool though.
