A great story, nicely carried by Tom Hanks and co-pilot Aaron Eckhart. No surprise to see that Clint Eastwood was behind it, he does like to set his steely sights on a blue-collar hero story, it doesn't get too old, he cracks em out every 3 years or so, I'll keep watching!
This is a very clever and picturesque sic-fi with sort of a retro-noir tone. You really appreciate each character even somewhat connecting with the heptopods and their seemingly impenetrable language. Adam Adams really is a star. Great film.
Here's a pretty good indie horror to add to the collection. Sometimes too slow but I'm not sure another pace would have suited it. The young lead was good, as was the old. It felt well worth the watch and I enjoyed the opening song "On Your Side" by The Family Dog/King Boomba.
I like this movie. But I don't love it. Beautiful shots and a cool story with excellent and ultimately moving character dynamic between the two middle aged rangers. Seems like these country-gothic-sepia-noir movies with Nick Cave soundtracks are being churned out a little, but this one earns its place for sure.
As a Harry Potter fan it was hard to watch 8 movies that could never compete with the books and the mesmeric and detailed world JK Rowling had created within them. 8 films unfolding with pretty awkward kid actors basically not acting properly until film 6 or 7. If you agree then watch this movie, see JK Rowling make something entirely for the screen with not a dodgy kid-actor in sight.
