Other than Robin Wright the 6th season is a total mess entangled in an unconvincing plot line, including a murder mystery in which the killer is obvious, if a stretch, because it needed to be wrapped up quickly. Much of it just didn't make any sense. Claire's "strategy" was ridiculous don't bother, remember first five seasons, and lament that so much could have been done had Frank just been killed off and forgotten, allowing Claire to truly do her own thing.
Critics hate it, rest of us love it. Better than most.
This is just example of "let's be as obscure as possible" plot trickery. It might be a good trip but the opening episode was filled with more holes than Bonnie and Clyde's getaway car. What happened to the tv crowds greeting her return? Why did the investigators give up so easily? Why would her masquerading as his step mother convince a school official not to expel a student whose attack on a fellow student would have landed him in juvie? In fact, this episode is filled with a lot of bad whys that outweigh the good whys.
This would be a fascinating what if show but is weighted down by its science fiction plot. The films, the actual title character, the alternate realities just clutter the series.
