Horrible. Simply horrible.
Despite a heroic effort on the part of the actors, the writers and the director made herculean efforts to ensure that this movie will go down as one of the hilarious jokes of the genre. it is too bad -- there are some very good actors, but they even looked like they were thinking, "What?? This is ridiculous!!
It is a very good movie. But I will never cease being frustrated and amazed by obvious editing and continuity mistakes in movies such as this. For example, there is a scene that occurs in 1970 at a club and the song playing and to which they are dancing is by kc and the susnshine band, "gett down tonight". This song was released in the summer of 1075. Little mistakes like that cause unnecessary skepticism about everything else in a movie supposedly based on a real story. What a stupid and unprofessinoal mistake to make.
An excellent movie with the unfortunately accurate portrayal of the ancestors of Trump supporters -- the root of modern ignorance, racism and xenophobia.
The part of me that respects good acting gives this a higher score than I would like. But the directing was drifting at best. And the primary point is that religion truly is the irrational and fantastical travesty that has caused so much unnecessary pain, torture and death in our history.
