I loved this film. It cleverly took you down a murder mystery in two timelines that will have you guessing the entire time.
The ending twist, the cast, the music, and the direction all seemed very well done.
Come to expect anything Gillian Flynn related to be great.
Not a very good film. It is a decent adaptation of a book written by a 16 year old. The book is a little better, but still very derivative of better works.
This movie is terrible. The only good thing I can say about it is that Andrew Lesnie's sweeping camera shots are beautiful and the music is decent. Nothing else about this movie is any good. The direction is atrocious and its incredible that this is based on one of the best tv series ever made.
Even worse than the first one. Which is almost impossible.
It is amazing how terrible this film turned out with such amazing source material from and being from the director of the first Harry Potter film.
A decent YA film in a time when there were several YA films. Sadly, they botched the ending and rearranged too much of the plot.
Peter Jackson accomplishes his life-long passion of remaking his favorite film. Most of this film is completely amazing as the love just pours thought the project. Weta's effects look better in this film than they ever have (aside from a few scenes).
The only thing about this movie that is daunting for some people is the length, bcuz at times it drags. I am okay with that as much of the film is extremely comfortably filmed. (something that has become a trademark of Jackson's films)
Fantastic prequel entry in the Wizarding World. Several great performances and the effects are amazing.
Only gave it a 4.5/5 because of the over abundance of CGI creatures which distracted from the overall plot.
This movie was extremely entertaining and well-paced up until the bewilderingly confusing final scene. They really show have saved that for an opening of the third film.
This movie is an awesome visual realization of the beginning half of the last HP book! My only gripe is that this film (like all the live action ones) throws the rules for incanting spells out the window!
but, as far as adaptations go, this one is probably the most page to film accurate but still is able to have its own dark cinematic style.
This movie is an awesome visual realization of the latter half of the last HP book! Some casual fans who have not read the books might have a few questions, but for those who are steeped in the books, it is nice to see how the final battle plays out; and it does not disappoint!
Easily my least favorite adaptation when it comes to what they cut out. Being that most of the book was clever flashbacks giving history of Voldemort and the film chose to show only 2 of these, it did seem very different. However, the film has an awesome sense of style (it has a greenish tint to it when the last film was a darker blue) and the humor is funnier than any entry in the series.
This film did the incredible job of condensing the largest book in the Harry Potter series into a very streamlined story. It cut out things form the books but also had an awesome sense of "Show don't Tell" filmmaking.
with 8 films in the main series, it is amazing how good each of the films turned out to be. Although this film doesn't hit every plot point from the books, the points it does hit, it does very well.
The film in the Harry Potter series with the most creative filmmaking and flair. It also is the one that started the shift of drastically cutting stuff out from the books, which made the films harder to follow for non-book readers.
This film continues the world of Harry Potter while standing out from the first film by adding an extra layer of suspense to the world.
A near perfect adaptation of the introduction to a series that grows up along side its main character, Harry Potter. As Harry's understanding of the world gets more complex, so does the works in the series. One of the best films in the fantasy genre. This film has a level of comfort that is in part due to all of the incredibly well built sets and amazing music.
A great and fun adaptation of part of Lemony Snicket's Young Adult series. With a unique sense of humor, this is an incredible film for a family.
Not quite as good as the first film, however this film tries to be ambitious by adding more development to several of the human characters. This film might have been improved by not having such a similar ending to the first film.
A very good adaptation of C.S. Lewis's most famous Narnia book!
