This movie did something that Indian movies -- and oftentimes American movies -- rarely do. They created a genuinely moving movie that honestly depicted women as real people with unique, distinct personalities and roles. None of these women were fantasies or stereotypes of what a woman should be like. The cast was extremely diverse, with members of the team from all over India, and the movie displayed the different struggles and prejudices. Without preaching or dropping the plot, Chak de India tackles religious prejudice, sexism, "eve-teasing," racism, the difficulties of breaking tradition, and the pains and joys of teamwork. The only (minor) flaw is that you can probably easily guess how the movie ends. Still, Chak de India is one of best Bollywood films ever.
