"The Death of Dick Long" has a lot of potential from the director, one of the weird experiences in cinema. The set, the performance especially Abbott Jr., the soundtrack, and there are so many memorable scenes in fact. Above all, I can't say how the ending doesn't work for me. But, the twist is just the same weird as the entire of this movie.
"The Witch" is an arthouse of a horror genre, a thought-provoking movie with such an excellent performance. The music is terrifying and the ending is just weird. It gives us enough pay-off to think about what was just going on. Most people would walk out in the first and second act because this is a slow burn movie. But, I love movies that do that because they give us time and build to get ready what comes next. And they also give us enough information so that we care about the main characters whatsoever. On top of that, I fricking love this movie.
"Shoplifters" is a complicated yet melancholic movie, gloomy, but important in providing a perspective about the theme. It's about a contemplative about choosing a family. This movie explores the big questions about life and society. It's about modern Japanese society but also not about Japan itself. It's about everybody, every one of you who watches this movie. Koreeda cares about people, cares about his country, and everything. This movie has a pessimistic view as if to tell that this is just impossible.
"Epic" is another movie with uninspiring titles and everything but a decent family spectacle to everybody. A treatment for 3D viewers also doesn't disappoint. The balanced tone is there, the conflict, and everything is just so simple. I don't know, I don't explain this film much from any perspective; unless I research this film using literary theories such as ecofeminism, environmentalists, and ecocriticism. At the onset, this is a great movie, especially for kids.
So is this movie very worth to watch? Definitely. "Joker" is a gritty movie, a character study not just a limit to the Joker as an identity. This is a great spectacle. If you feel bored with superhero films, this is for you. It's introducing us to the Joker far from an expectation unless we forget the source material of the comic book. There are violence and murder which I don't think this movie influenced many people to be like the Joker. Despite the controversy, this is a great movie.
