I loved this entry of Tarantino's. I've always been a fan of movies that take place in the 60's and I absolutely love this LA setting!! The cast is amazing but Pitt and DiCaprio's are the main act , I really enjoyed the story of their friendship and only wish we got more from Margot Robbie because she is great. The style/atmosphere, the dialogue, the acting, the cinematography and that FREAKING soundtrack were all amazing! My favorite film of 2019 so far.
This movie was great visually much like the Jungle Book. However, what made me like this one a little less than it's original animated version was the new covers of the songs and the lack of any new changes to the movie itself. It was pretty much shot for shot which is probably the safest route they could have gone to avoid angering long time fans of the this much beloved classic. I however was hoping for a little more personally. I was also not a fan of the new "Be Prepared" or "Can You Feel The Love Tonight." Overall, if you like the animated movie you'll definitely enjoy this one, I just can't say it's better or at the same level as the original.
Well paced action creature feature. The characters were good, the effects were great! This movie was paced really well, it didn't take too long for the action to get started and it was really intense!
The premise and the style of this movie is very intriguing and smart. However, it is way too long for what it is and many (including myself) can be lost and bored on the way to the end. The build up in the beginning and the ending were both very good and this movie could have scored higher with me had it been shorter in run time. However, I feel like that does effect my score majorly. It's hard to remain focused and admire Mitchell's work when it drags in the middle. What he was able to do with It Follows worked and that movie got it's story and point across in a much shorter run time.
Perfect follow up to Ari Aster's Hereditary last year (my #1 pick of 2018). This movie pushed more boundaries and left the audience feeling unsettled and dreadful the whole entire movie. That first 10 minutes was so hard and raw I felt it. I can't describe the emotions I felt during that opening. The cinematography is one of the best apects of this film it is beautiful! This movie is very slow paced and somewhat predictable but it works in this case because that helps with that feeling of dread the audience feels. Amazing original horror film.
