Nah, just stick with the original 1981 flick. It may be more cheesier but it has a better sense of adventure. Ray Harryhausen's stop motion creatures still look better than these CGI monstrosities.
If you're wanting a zombie parody with great humor and characters you actually care about, just stick with Shaun Of The Dead. I couldn't even finish this piece of garbage and found myself hoping the cruddy cast would get devoured.
Die Hard in the White House. Everything - the script, the music, the CGI - is ripped from the Eighties. I kept expecting to see Bruce Willis at any moment. (Let's be honest: Bruce has more onscreen charisma than Gerard Butler.)
I wasn't a fan of the format the movie chose to follow. I don't mind flashbacks but when there's one seemingly every two minutes (there's even a flashback within a flashback) it makes the storytelling choppy. It takes about thirty minutes or so for the movie to calm down and by then it was too late to get me invested in it. The make-up used to turn Streep into old Maggie was not the best. And didn't poor Mark Thatcher get the shaft from this movie.
The animation is fresh and exciting and deserved the Oscar. The story was meh.
