To All The Boys I Loved Before is a movie that I was shocked to see got critical praise, considering it's mildly similar to the very strongly disliked, The Kissing Booth. I decided to watch this and I was extremely surprised. It was very adorable and romantic, and Lana Condor and Noah Centineo have very enjoyable chemistry. Yes, it's predictable and not very unique, but the story is executed in such a fun way and almost all the characters are reasonably likable. One performance that I didn't really like was Janel Parrish's, simply because it was very unbelievable and the writing for her character wasn't great. But in the end, I massively enjoyed this funny, entertaining and ridiculously cute movie and I found it to be far better than The Kissing Booth. -97%
Another decision I made on my very long flight was to watch the remake of Tomb Raider, and I had very low expectations, but by the end, I realized that this is the best video game movie I have and will probably ever see. The story was mildly weak, and I disliked Walton Goggins in his role, but similar to Rampage, I was extremely entertained with this movie. The special effects were actually quite good and definitely improved from the trailer, and Alicia Vikander was perfect for the role. There are flaws, but they didn't destroy the quality of this genuine action movie for me, and in the end, I loved Tomb Raider.
Recently, I was on an extremely long flight and didn't really have much to watch on my downloaded list on Netflix, so when I saw Rampage on the "Entertainment" list, I decided to take a chance. The special effects were quite cheesy, the story was beyond ridiculous, and the villain's were basic and boring -- but honestly, I had so much fun while watching. It's wildly entertaining, it gets you surprisingly invested in its characters, and included an always great performance by Dwayne Johnson. It's not an intelligent movie, but it embraces its craziness to its advantage and creates one heck of a ride for the audience.
