I was looking forward to this so much . I loved Braveheart ,but this was lacking texture and had little character depth. The actions scenes were brutal and exciting, but itï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)s been done so many times now a movie needs far more , I thought the backstory was bare too . It is such an exciting time and the English were outraged as so one dimensional. Reminded me of orcs in the lord of the rings . Edward Longshanks was actually a Norman king and England was a defeated land itself and had been since 1066 till Richard II in AD1399.. I thought it was a little shallow for an historical movie and the characters are huge in British history. . I actually think it should have been longer . The cinematography was beautiful . It was just disappointing compared to Braveheart . I think it has to be compared to Braveheart. Could have been great , but misses the mark for me , but others love it so itï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)s subjective and obviously not a bad movie . Just expecting more .
This is a wonderfully shot movie . The acting is great and character formation and development. It is above average in every production department, but I'm a bit uneasy about the message . I think it is a tad confused and won't age well . I know there have been boxing movies of male boxers dying and suffering terrible injuries, but this movie is really made at the dawn of women's boxing . The many people at the time who were aghast at the thought of women boxing , especially male boxing fans and press ,have now bought into it and women's boxing and boxers have shown they are as relatively capable as their male counterparts. It has a bit if a dated and sexist outlook . The fragile flower outlook . The movie is undeniably well made ,but I think iit is maybe too manipulative. I for one hate the violence of boxing , but I believe in equality and this film while at first acknowledging that she could box , at this point I thought it was forward thinking ! Then to be put into a coma was to pull that rug and the final message was that women don't belong in the ring .
I love this movie . First time I was actually busy at the time and didn't really give it 100% . This is definitely a movie to watch twice . Visually it's amazing . I've read critics say it is intentionally vague . Trying to be arty and highbrow. I don't think it is vague . I think it is a very creative imaginative storyline . There's animals on Earth that mimic other species. Who knows how this would play out with highly intelligent life forms. I think there is going to be a sequel and we are going to see an invasion of the body style plot develop . Or maybe they are benign and come in peace . Can't wait !
This actually starts off quite good . The worms was obviously trying to copy the famous Alien scene ,but was still creepy . Then the arm shattered all illusions . Actually thought it was going to turn into a comedy . It was as absurd as the hand in Evil Dead 2 only it wasn't playing for laughs like the great great Evil Dead . It was deadly serious and the actors deserve oscars for not rolling about in laughter . After that we knew we were in B movie territory of the 50's but without the originality. The premise is actually good , speculative and there's a very good movie ready to be written about what possibly could go wrong with colliding the building blocks of life together at speeds close to the speed of light , but this was an awful attempt must say . The effects and the space station and the production was really good . The actors great too . Just an awful script in parts .
