One of the best films in recent years. Josh O'Connor and Alec Secareanu burn the Irish scenery down with their intense chemistry. It's a modern-day classic that deserves mention in the same sentence as "Brokeback Mountain." O'Connor, who gives very different, brilliant performances in "Emma" and "The Crown," proves he is one of the best male actors around and gives Russell Tovey a run for his money in most adorable ears dept.
This movie is worth seeing for one reason: Carrie Coon. She is simply magnetic. Her chemistry with Jude Law is hot, even as he plays as unlikable a character as he has ever played. But the movie keeps its focus on Coon. Hopefully this will open the door for many more great roles for one of greats of her generation.
This is a new gay classic. James Sweeney is a dynamic triple threat as writer, director, and star. The rapid-fire dialogue is truly witty. The first movie that popped into my head as a cinematic sibling was "It Happened One Night." Katie Findlay is a true breakout star as his "girlfriend." Great, great movie.
