I wanted to like this so much, but I just couldn't. The animation on the dragons was BRILLIANT. Much of the PG humour was funny when involving dragons. Anytime, however, that a human was on screen, it was unbearable. The editing on the facial animations was horrendous. There was nothing expressive about them and at times they didn't even line up to the dialogue. The story is the worst of the trilogy, with dumb cliches and one of the worst villains in movie history. All this said, there are still some more positives. For example, much of the voice acting, though badly dubbed, was very sincere and filled with emotion, even when the writing was dumb. In addition, some of the shots were cinematically remarkable (great framing), however, the environments felt bland and empty. Much of the film is spent around water, but whenever it splashes it looks horribly fake. In conclusion, this is a great film to take your kid to, there was serious effort put into certain portions, but it feels disrespectful to the raunchy source material of my childhood and I can not endorse this one for the average movie-goer.
Very good, as expected of Peele. Surpasses Get Out as a horror movie, but not as a social commentary. Despite some decisions I can't totally support regarding the revelations at the end, it was still a solid movie throughout. Soundtrack was great, acting was great, direction was great. A must-see for horror fans and still a recommendable movie for anyone else.
I don't trust DC still. It could surprise me and be amazing fun, or just dumb fun like Aquaman, but I'm gonna wait and see first.
De-aging CGI was amazing. Cat was cute at times. There was 90s nostalgia. Some action scenes weren't all garbage. Sam's supporting role isn't as unlikable as Brie's lead. Those are literally the only positives about this movie. Name anything else about this movie and it was negative. Another Marvel formula movie, but sh*t direction, sh*t effort, and sh*t charisma lead to a sh*t product.
Sony has found its niche for Spider-Man in the animated frontier. Simply stunning visuals. The score is the only thing holding this movie back with Lil Wayne annoyingly coming in at the most dramatic moments and ruining them. Still a tremendous feat in almost every other way. I sincerely recommend buying on blu-ray!
