I have no idea how to feel about this movie. Let's start with the cast. Everyone is great in this movie. Performances and vocal talent was definitely there. The plot was meh. Not much of a good one, if any, was even there. The visuals were strange. Some aspects were well made, and the other was just weird. I feel that this movie could have had such potential for such a weird premise. I think that they went overboard on the weird when they shouldn't, and under-did it where they should. I would rate this a C.
The Rise Of Skywalker. I love many aspects of this film, but I also do not like a few aspects. Characters. Many, like Rey and Kylo Ren stand out phenomenally. Others like Finn and Poe were undermined, which is alright, since they are essentially side characters. What doesn't work about it is the lack of character development and confusing return of Palpatine. Snoke is very briefly mentioned by visuals and it raises more questions than answers. Leia was great. It was nice to see Carrie Fisher for the last time. They treated her character with respect and it worked. Every character did have their own moment, some, more prominent than others. Definitely a flawed film, but an amazing Star Wars film. A franchise I grew up with since I could talk! Spent 3 days rewatching the series (all 11 main films including Rise of Skywalker). If you for some reason haven't watched it. "Do it!" ;)
Alright! Disney has done it again. Critics seem to be somewhat mixed on this film, but I have to say, I like it better than the original! Elsa is a definite standout, heads up, your kids will sing a particular song that definitely tries to recapture let it go. The songs weren't as memorable as the first, but that one I mentioned definitely is. Anna is doing well in this film too. Sven is more enjoyable this time around for me, and Olaf is a lovable charm of humor! Kristof is definitely underused in this film. His subplot is definitely funny and interesting, but does start to drag. Along with these characters, plenty of new characters are in this and each one is great and definitely interesting... but lacking in screen time. This movie really builds on the Frozen world and universe. I love that! It's done so well and it's integrated so deep into the plot, and that each twist and turn feels earned! There is a lot to say about the parents of Anna and Else, because they aren't actually what they seem, and they do play a major role in the overall story. Aside from the minor nitpicks like the underuse of Kristof, and not as catchy songs, this movie is a definite win and must watch! Solid A for me.
How... not to do a Christmas movie...
A movie that's definitely not for younger audiences. (Teenagers, even though I am one myself) But as a movie lover, this gives you everything. In a good way. You relate to Scarlet Johansson's character and her personal struggles, and you relate to a Adam Driver's character, and his struggles. While their son is in the middle of it. How a simple divorce can escalate quickly. You feel sad when a character feels sad. You feel empowered when a character starts to sing. (No. It's not a musical) Definitely one of the most "real" films of the year, and definitely in my personal top 20. Hell, 5 even.
