Really only giving it 4 stars because everything else out there sucks so bad and is sickeningly political, but it is a really good movie in its own right.
Film is made great by Danzel Washington--he seems to be getting better as he gets older, really hope he keeps it up. Suspense, meaningful, good crime mystery, and DW chooses movies laden with imagery and allegory lately, this one being one of the best. Reminds me almost of a novel more than a film, the way the crimes take hold of people and haunt them. Sure, it's kind of a classic story, but it is very well-executed and thought-provoking, not slam-bam action and empty dialogue. Jared Leto is creepy, role fits him better than a lot of others he's done. Decent watch, recommend.
I find myself in the minority because I HATE the book, and those that give this negative reviews...well...apparently they never read the book. It's a glorified soap opera and I don't recommend. For the most part, the movie seems pretty faithful, and the star power is good, so if this is your thing go for it. Not for me.
