        Runaway Ralph (1988)

Today's Viewing: "Runaway Ralph". Based On The Beverly Cleary's 1970 Sequel Novel Of The Same Name To Her 1965 Novel "The Mouse & The Motorcycle", This 2-Part ABC Kidtime Special Aired On October 29, 1988 On The ABC Weekend Special. For A Kids' Film, It's Alright. The Story Seems Harmless When We Venture Further, But The Film Itself Has 1 Flaw. The Story Seems Kinda Weird; The Script Fails To Explain Why The Characters Do What They Do: Like Why Does Ralph, A Mouse, Ride A Motorcyce? Where Did He Get It? Etc. Other Examples Could Be About His Connection With Garfield, Played By Fred Savage ("The Wonder Years" From 1988-1993) / "Little Monsters" In 1989); Ralph Could Just Stay With Garfield Instead Of Returning Back To His Siblings & Uncle Lester, Garfield Would Give Ralph Everything A Mouse Could Want. But With Lack Of Explanations Aside, The Story Is Weird But Harmless, It Doesn't Get Away With Bad Messages, & The Stop-Motion Animation On The Animal Characters Are Nice; The Mice Look Natural, & Castro The Cat Can Be A Little Scary For Kids. So Yeah, ABC Kidtime's Spin On Beverly Cleary's 1970 Novel Is Another Example Of What It Appears To Be: An Average Kids' Film. Nothing Special. There's Not Much To Offer In Explaining Things, But It's Alright. Maybe Give It At Least A Viewing, & You Be The Judge.

      • Double Team
        Double Team (1997)

Okay, It's Been A While Since The Last Review. So, Tonight I Watched 1997's "Double Team". Warning: There's Gonna Be Some Agreements With The Nostalgia Critic's Review & All. Now, As We Had A Display Of Odd Team-Up Movies. Some Say The Worst Of These Is "Theodore Rex" (1995). Personally, I Think The Worst Is "The Magic Voyage" (1992). And Yes, Like The N.C. Said, This Film Wins The 2nd Place Spot. Like "Theodore Rex" & "The Phantom" (1996) & Such, This Has Gotta Be Another 1 Of The Most (If Not THE Most) Craziest Team-Ups. Now There Are A Few Exceptions: Dennis Rodman Getting A Few Laughs, Mickey Rourke Is Sinister As The Villain, & There Are Plenty Of Decent Action-Filled Moments. But Here Are The Biggest Problems: It's Unoriginal, Impassive, There's A Bunch Of Holes & Unexplained Issues That Could've Been Better Options, Rodman's Basketball Puns, (...) His Slushy-Froot Loop-Colored Hair?, The Film Rips Off James Bond Films &/Or "Men In Black" (1997), Some Parts Of The Film Don't Gel Very Well, & Jean-Claude Van Damme Is Just A Horrible Actor In This Role. I Mean, He's Been In Better Films Beforehand, But His Acting Here Is So Bad It Legit Won Him Both Razzie Award For Both "Worst New Star" & "Worst Supporting Actor". Same To Rodman! Poor Guys. 😞 So Yeah, "Double Team" Is SOOOO Bizarrely Bad! The Story Is Nothing New; It's Badly Written, Van Damme's Performance Is Acted Horribly, There's Massive Holes In The Plot & Story, It's All Silly, Some Fight Scenes Are Decent Enough, & Rodman & Rourke Do Their Roles Fine. But Overall, I Don't Recall Anyone Requesting This To Theatrical Screens.

      • Sonic the Hedgehog
        Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Today's Viewing: "Sonic The Hedgehog". The Iconic Sega Genesis Character Has Been In Various Video Games & TV Shows That Both Were Popular Throughout The 1990s, & As A Result Has Garnered A Massive Following Over The Years Since. But With This Action-Adventure Comedy Marks The Directorial Debut Of Jeff Fowler But Feels So Fuckin' Old For 2020. What A Coincidence, 'Cause This Film Began Production In The '90s But Didn't Go Past That Until Sony Pictures Took Over In 2013. And After Turning Things Around With Recruiting Jeff Fowler In The Director's Chair, Paramount Studios Acquired The Project In 2017. And Let's Not Forget About Sonic's Hideous 1st CG Appearance! In A Way, This Video Game Adaptation Really Shines For Its Lack Of Originality & Effort. The Nostalgia Is There, But The Whole Experience Does Not Merrit Much Of Your Time, At Least For Me. Sonic Looks A Hell Of A Lot Better Than Before, But He's Annoying & Just Not Funny, Jim Carrey As Dr. Robotnik Is A Weird Casting Choice But He's Half The Best Part Of The Movie; He Has The Most Laughs, The Film Is Presented As A Road Trip Like Illumination's "Hop" (2011); That's Not Fun At All, Some Climatic Scenes Are Fun I Guess, & The Film Itseld Has Little To No Similarities To The Original Sonic Games: Like Tails, Knuckles, The 7 Chaos Emeralds!? So Yeah, This Film's So Out Of Its Time, Maybe If It Was Released Around 1994 Or 1995 Then I Could Stomach It Better. But As Is, 2020's "Sonic The Hedgehog" Is Somewhat Decent Example Of What Hollywood Would Do To Anything These Days. It's Not The Worst Movie However, But The Writing Is Bland, Therefore It's Mostly Just.. Boring. It's Been Labeled As A Family Film, But This Is Obviously For Kids Under The Age Of 5. So Yeah, Outside Of A Few Laughs & Some Nostalgia For The Sega Games I Mentioned Earlier, This Is A Bad Movie On A Simply Boring Level.

      • Moana
        Moana (2016)

Now 1st Off, I Watched It Last Night & Finished It Today. Now Then, Today's Viewing: Disney's "Moana". There Has Been Debate As To Which Disney Flick Was Better: "Tangled" (2010) Or "Frozen" (2013). Well, Now We Can Add "Moana" To The Mix. Unlike The Other 2 Films, This Movie Takes Place In A Tropical Environment & Has A Lot More To Offer. Now, The Animation Is 100% Top-Notch, The Environment Of The Movie Is Gorgeous, The Characters Are Good, The Songs Are Hummably Fun, & A Lot Of The Creatures Look Marvelous! But The Story Of The Film Itself.. Is Pretty Much A Story I've Seen & Heard In Disney Animated Films Over & Over Again. And It Makes Sense, Seeing This Story In A Film Like This Starts To Get Tiringly Clichéd: The Titular Character Moana, Voiced By The Beautiful Auli'i Cravalho, Has To Stay In Place But Yearns For More, Listens To Her Heart, Etc. As For The Comedy, It's Alright. It Just Needs More Laughs, I Think. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson As Maui Is Savagely Funny But It Seems A Little Grating Seeing How Everything Is Maui's Wrongdoing. Also, Some Things Don't Make Sense; Why Do Maui's Tatoos Come To Life? What's The Backstory To Those Killer Coconut-Tiki-Lookin'-Ass Bastards? Why Do We Have To Put Up With THAT Retarded Chicken?! D'oh! However, Compared To Disney's Past Films, "Moana" Tried To Add Some New Changes, Which Is Refreshing, Indeed. For Example, Moana & Maui Are Not In Love. It Wouldn't Make Sense If So. And Moana Is Actually Not Much A Princess, She's A Daughter To A Chief. But That Won't Stop Her From Joining That Club. So, Overall, Disney's "Moana" Is A Good Movie. Even Though Some Clichés Might Be Done To Death, & The Film Could've Used More Comedy & Surprises & Maybe A New, Original Story, This Movie Sets On A Standard Level Of Good. I'm Happy I Saw It, & I'm Sure It'll Still Entertain Families As Well. It Still Has Issues Some Folks Can Talk About, But "Moana" Is Definitely A Decent Addition To Your Disney Collection.

Kermit's Swamp Years: The Real Story Behind Kermit the Frog's Early Years (2002)

Tonight's Viewing: "Kermit's Swamp Years". A Direct-To-Video Buddy Comedy-Drama & Road Adventure Prequel To "The Muppet Movie" (1979), It's Basically A Story About Kermit The Frog's Childhood Life In The Swamp. One Day, 2 Of Kermit's Friends, Goggles The Toad & Blotch The Bullfrog Get Frog-Napped By A Pet Store Owner, Who Gives Them To A Crazy High School Biology Teacher For Dissection. So Kermit & His Froggie Friend Croaker Leave Their Boggy Home & Set Out With The Company Of A New Friend, A Stray Dog Named Pilgrim (Voiced By Character Actress Cree Summers; Suzie Carmichael In Nickelodeon's "Rugrats"/Penny In The 1980s Animated TV Show "Inspector Gadget"), To Save The Other 2 Amphibians. Now 1st Off, It's Based On The Muppets. I Love The Muppets, I Mean, Who Doesn't? Yet As The Execution Of It All Is, It's Basically A 'We Gotta Save Our Friends!' Type Of Kids' Movie. The Puppetry, Or 'Muppet-try', Is Fantastic As Usual, The Story Is Basic & Harmless, The Songs Are Okay But Forgettable, & There Are Some Legit Funny Jokes & Moments, Etc. But The 'Follow-My-Star' Element Is Pointlessly Clichéd As A Morale Of Any Type, & It Really Isn't Until Near The Climax With The Mad Biology Teacher When Things Seem Ridiculously Weird. Speaking Of Which, I'm Sure He Was A Good Actor. But His Performance In This Muppet Movie Is So Over-The-Top But It's So Unneeded. I'm Sorry But His Acting Is Bad Here. I Mean, COM'ON! It's Like The Case With Paul Freeman As Ivan Ooze In "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie" (1995); He Acts Like He's Someone Like Christopher Lloyd, & He's NOT Christopher Lloyd. Anyway, Even Though Things Get Weird & Weak By The Climax & There Are Some Things That Could Raise Questions From A Review Standpoint Of Some Sort, "Kermit's Swamp Years" Is Not Doing Any Wrong. It's What You'd Expect It To Be: Just A Popcorn Family Film/Kids' Film. Not Much To Say Really? It's Okay To Give It A Viewing.
