What a wonderfully simple film. Nothing gaudy or exciting just a beautiful film about the relationship between two fading stars.
Steve Coogan gives a great performance as the surprisingly strong Stan. John C Reilly likewise gives a superb turn as the somewhat weak Ollie.
The wives are a double act on their own both stern and caring.
Really good evening at the cinema.
A run of the mill B movie from the Talking Pics channel.
A good watch and a few twists to keep your attention.
A wonderful film from the Talking Pics channel.
If you think you know how the film will end, then you will be surprised.
Ralph Richardson at his understated best. Sonia Dresdel is menacing as Richardson's wife.
Bobby Henrey gives a very good performance as the young boy.
Great supporting cast including Jack Hawkins, Dandy Nichols, Bernard Lee and Geoffrey Keene.
A true classic of a time when you were allowed to be proud to be British.
John Mills at his best as the heroic failure but a true hero nonetheless.
Well made and a great supporting cazt.
Another one from the Talking Pics channel.
Classic Jack Hawkins film. Solid story and good acting. Mix of hard crime (for the times) and a bit of humour.
Good supporting cast and you can see the tentative steps towards the more gritty kitchen sink dramas that were to come in the coming years.
Thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. Yes, it's ridiculous how the ladies go from amateurs to a crack team of commandos in a few days but that apart it's well made.
Throughout the film i kept thinking that this would make a great tv series. Then I saw Lynda Le Plante come up in the credits and realised it was 35 years ago.
Fantastic entertainment. Is it the best film ever? No but it rocks along at great pace.
Strong performances throughout and if you can live with a few timeline errors you will love it.
Another decent effort from Ben Affleck. A few plot holes here and there but very enjoyable.
Jeremy Renner is excellent as a somewhat physcotic character and John Hamm is good as the FBI guy your not supposed to like.
A fairly standard B movie from the Talking Pics channel.
Paul Carpenter and Hazel Court are solid leads in a quite ludicrous storyline.
Watched this one on the Talking Pics channel.
Really enjoyable film. Full of twists and turns aplenty. Well written and excellent acting. You can't go wrong with Jack Hawkins. Another solid and believable performance.
Good supporting cast and no need for a carpenter as the acting is not wooden in the slightest.
Watched on the Talking Pics channel.
Overall a disappointing film. Eric Portman is an old school stiff upper lip actor, which nowadays cones across as somewhat wooden.
Nice little cameo from Wilfred Hyde White.
One from the Talking Pics channel. A standard B movie full of wooden acting and one of those quick endings.
Another from the Talking Pics channel.
A somewhat sweet film. Stanley Baker is as strong as always. A good cast in a film that has a fantasy feel about it. A good Sunday afternoon film.
Another film from the Talking Pics channel.
If you can see beyond the cool daddio, far out everyone's a square lingo, it's actually an interesting film. Adam Faith is excellent as the moody teen and Gillian Hills smolders as the provocative leading girl.
Like most films of the time it's difficult to view them without seeing cliche characters everywhere and some wooden acting but overall a worthwhile watch.
One from the Talking Pics channel. Standard B movie fair.
What a little gem. A wonderfully quirky film. I think this is Pacino's best performance.
Off the back of watching the truly excellent Dog Day Afternoon I finally got round to watching a true cinema classic. What a huge disappointment. Pacino is solid but overall its a sprawling mess of a story that leaps to many times from year to year.
It has not stood the test of time very well.
A cracking British film. Low budget but high on good old-fashioned character acting. Yes it teeters towards cliche now and then but overall it delivers a message without preaching.
