Capone should have been called The Last O.G., if Tracy Morgan hadn't already used that title. This film has all the lessons from Ice Cube's "Ghetto Vet" stretched into a two hour film that would make Scorsese proud.
As a hip - hop head I only wish El-P would have put some of those end credit instrumentals throughout the film , but his sparse bassy synths did enough to deliever the paranoia to backgroud Hardy's best impression of an age old Burton - esque Penguin and his downward spiral due to natural causes ( and probably the lack of condomn usage ).
The nightmare sequences provided the horror that only guilty consciences can pay off and the sneakiness of those closest to Capone just to get his assests was as real as it gets. Capone is a top notch cautionary tale, the perfect PSA for the gangster life.
Ratner's Hercules is one of his better films since Snatch. The quick cut-scenes don't work too well this time around and not all the jokes hit, but the pacing of this as well as the focus on the main story was what made this film a winner. Add in a cast of characters that you can cheer for and The Rock as a believable protagonist and this telling of the age old myth of Hercules is one not to be slept on, especially for as long as I did.
Eisenberg does it again. Cold and unflinching, this has to be the role that got him Luthor in that BvS casting call.
Looks like the Illuminati cards were right about hackers. First Gates got on by creating the first computer virus, and now this. Haha, not surprising. But masterfully executed. NIN does an amazing job as always with accelerating the slowest scenes with their anxiety-laden electronic instrumentation, Juston Timberlake as the founder of Napsterwas believable - as was Garfield's role as much as Eisenberg. Everyone here threw their selves into these characters.
Though that last scene was a cry for sympathy for the devul, I would not guarantee it would lamd with every aidience like a majority of the sarcasm that decorated this screenplay
Still, The Social Network is a good story aboitbstriking while the iron is hot, how friends always end up yoir worst eniemiea and how money and digital fingerprints can never fully be a substitute for true physical companionship.
Funny , real , and shocking. This is an edge of your seat drama rooted in the cold realities of poverty and the pride of those in the elite classes. A great depiction of foreign film since it covered so many genres in one sitting, even got to walk away with a moral and a new perspective on the dangers of good planning. If only this had a dub to it and if the theatre I saw it in did not lose power halfway through. Parasite was so good that I finished it at home online rather than abandon such phenomenal storytelling.
Catfights , conspiracies and crop tops, this was a dream come true on the big screen and perfect timing a week prior to the shut down of U.S. theatres because of the media indiced hysteria. Hats off.
